Poll question: Pigs in a Blanket
Edited on Tue Aug-16-11 01:11 PM by charlie and algernon
Which do you consider to be the TRUE "Pigs in a blanket"?

1.

2. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8cOYp4GoTu0/SYh9NjDqjfI/AAAAAAAAAI0/0uK1mkx5IJU/s400/Cabbage+Rolls1.jpg

I've grown up always told that the second dish was called pigs in blanket. My Grandmother makes excellent pigs in a blanket. But apparently I'm in the minority on what actually is "pigs in a blanket." What say you, DU?

I thought it was an eastern European thing.

meat and rice wrapped in cabbage and tied with a string.

I think all basic food is present in a lot of cultures even before the eveeel Americans where around.

11. That's what I call "pigs in a blanket" too.
I'm thinking this may be a regional or ethic variation in terms.

12. yeah, I've never heard of the sausage in pancakes being "pigs in a blanket"
My Grandmother is Italian, so perhaps its an Italian thing, or her family picked it up from the local Polish community and just renamed it.

4. I voted for pigs in a blanket
Edited on Tue Aug-16-11 01:13 PM by OriginalGeek
instead of stuffed cabbage although I will happily eat either one.

However there is an equally valid "other" and that is sausage links wrapped in pancakes. I guess that's breakfast pigs in a blanket although I have never been one to respect breakfast time of day restrictions.

edit~ Looks like was beaten to both punches!

5. Even though I'm vegetarian, it's the top one.
I don't know if they're a national chain or what, but the "Kolache Factory" is really a "Pigs-in-a-Blanket Factory". They have no clue what constitutes real kolaches.

9. Neither! WTF! Pigs in blanket are totally breakfast links wrapped in pancakes. If I had to pick
something else, though, I would say the cabbage rolls.
