Question about the movie Dazed and Confused
So it's about hazing the new coming freshmen by the juniors (soon to be seniors) of this high school.

Beside O'Bannon character (Ben Affleck) a senior who got held back, where were all of the other seniors?

Stupid stuff like this always prays on my mind.

It just seemed weird to me that at the end of a school year, the current crop of seniors would have such a run of the school and every thing else.

1. It seemed to me to be an 'end of an era' thing.

A lot of teenage movies have that theme. Graduation and Prom and the like fit so neatly into those stories.

So anyway, my take on it is that the practice is dying out. But O'Bannon has this chip on his shouder from when it happened to him when he was a freshman. And he's been waiting his turn. And he's been building it up as the be-all-end-all of his teenage existence. When it doesn't turn out to be everything he'd built it up to be, that's the payoff.

2. You ask where the Seniors were?
A lot of the football team that you saw in that movie were Seniors (or rather, the incoming class of Seniors...) Floyd was a Senior. Mitch's older sister was a Senior. Simone was a Senior...

Affleck was a second year senior.

3. I assume they were at the party at the Moon Tower
They weren't at school because their last day was a week earlier.

4. I was talking
about the out going seniors.

Beside O'Bannon, I didn't see any others.

6. "Goodwin's off on a senior trip..."
Apparently, at least some of the outgoing seniors had skipped school....

CYNTHIA: So, guys are we going to play poker tonight?
PINK: Mmm, count me out I'll probably be going to Pickford's party later, okay?
MIKE: No we should do something like that. Goodwin's off on a senior trip, we can play poker any time.

7. at my high school, the seniors finished about a week or two earlier than everyone else
Seniors usually were done by the middle of May and had graduation on Labor Day Weekend, but the last day of school for everyone else was the very end of May or the first week of June. So when I saw it, the absence of graduating seniors on the last day of class didn't strike me as odd.
