5. For the pros, it has always been and always will be the

despite the fact that they have been torturing me slowly for 40 years. And as sure as eggs is eggs they will, without fail, find amazing and creative ways to blow big games (against the 'skins in the 88 playoffs, the Falcons in the '98 playoffs, the Saints in the '09 playoffs).

As I am from Minnesota, I am unfamiliar with the concept of "college football" as my alma mater hasn't had a football team that has mattered since sometime in LBJ's, or even JFK's administration. It is rumored that the sport is still played, but it can't be proven. :)

It is torture. Especially hearing John Randle talk about it. Vikings fan since 1987 - it ain't easy.

66. Thanks - watching right now
I'm not a Vikings fan but I loved that team. I was rooting for a Denver-Minnesota Super Bowl then my Cardinals managed to get a playoff spot the last game of the season after several comeback finishes during the season. Cardinals got handled by that Vikings team, I don't think it was in doubt. Shocked Minnesota lost the NFC Championship game though Atlanta was great that year.

My heart's been ripped out by that team so many times, but I stay with them. Lots of good memories too, though. And the Vikings have certainly had their share of fascinating personalities, from the best of the best (Grant, Page, Foreman, Eller, Randle) to the other extreme. :)

team). However, having been born & raised in Texas and having such great memories of my Dad (who was killed in a car wreck when I was 12) I still love the Cowboys as we would watch all of their games together. Also, UT (University of Texas where my bro graduated from and in the fine city of Austin) along with UCLA. I guess I love the California and Texas teams.

23. I assume you were originally an Oilers fan
and then your team up and left ya. I grew up watching the Cowboys and I think it would drive me batshit insane if they left for another city. How do you deal with the duality? Are there any Oilers left in Tennessee that makes you still a fan or does it just count as the same organization so you remain a fan? DId you take on the Texans because they showed up in Houston?

Even though I left Dallas I didn't take on any of the Florida teams when I moved here. The only thing I like about Tampa is they occasionally play the Cowboys and there's a chance I can go to a game in full-on silver and blue warpaint...ok, just the clothes but if it wasn't such a pain in the ass to remove the paint afterwards I might do it lol.

One of my friends here grew up an Oilers fan and he is now a Titans fan but since he doesn't actually live in Houston he never got into the Texans...

I don't much follow basketball but I like to see the Mavericks do well however I also get to go to Magic games on occasion since vendors like to keep me happy (I don't care enough to pay to see them but I will gosh darn sure go for free lol) and I will cheer the home team on.

The Rangers have given me hope lately too lol...I was sad I wasn't in Dallas for their best year ever last year and I see they are doing well this year too so I hope they continue that. Soooooooooooo many good memories of going to Arlington stadium with my dad...

83. Yep.
Born and raised on the Oliers. Had my Luv Ya Blue posters, Earl Campbell jersey, etc. I still feel some loyalty to the Titans even though the only Oiler left is the coach. They kept me going until the Texans came along. And Steve McNair and Eddie George were great players.
Now in my house hubby is the Cowboys fan and I'm the Texans fan- it can be a bit testy at times. ;-)

I haven't seen Maine since I saw them at Northern Iowa in the playoffs about 8-10 years ago. Strangely enough, they open this year with the Hawkeyes. I usually root for the Hawkeyes, but not this year. We'll just have to get a little Mississippi State on their asses.

I also like Auburn and Boston College in the big boy ranks, along with Iowa.

ASU just did a whole re-branding thing, with new uniforms and helmets, but I'm still fond of Sparky (the mascot).

Don't really follow the NFL closely so I don't have a favorite team. I followed the Cards when I lived in Phoenix (especially when they had Jake Plummer), but they (or at least their ownership) sometimes make it pretty hard to likem them! :)

Anyway, can't wait for college football to start.

78. Canes and Dolphins but not as passionately as the Orange Bowl years
Dolphin Stadium is an atrocity, other than betting on the visitor.

I also root for my alma mater 'SC

80. Dh's college team.
Oklahoma Aggies - Orange and Black.
And usually only on the day after Thanksgiving when they are usually getting stomped by the Sooners.

it's just like the Longhorns and Aggies in Texas. Except that it is the ONLY big college football rivalry in Oklahoma, since they only have two BIG state schools.

I graduated from a small private school in San Antonio, rich kids' school, that played powerhouses like Lon Morris College and THE UNIVERSITY OF GUADALAJARA!! I kid you not!! :D

Pro football -- I don't give a shit.

It's a sad, hard road, but someone has to travel it.

I like pro football but don't really have a team - I am a STL pro sports fan and as such am contractually obligated to hate Chicago teams, so the Bears are out, and the Rams didn't come along until I was too old to care. Never got into the Colts, either. Ever since Katrina I sort of root for the Saints, but that's about it, along with whatever other feel-good underdog story seems to be playing that year.
