I Read a Hard Copy Newspaper Today
It was nice. NY Times. Went outside on my patio and took my two cats. They were in cages, since they're indoor cats. They love going outside. Indoor/outdoor cat joined us. Everybody was purring, three cats and me.

I had two cups of coffee and some toasted chocolate chip muffins.

I learned the New York Times has a ton of color in its hard copy version. Don't think I've looked at a hard copy version in...well, years.

I read a review of the movie about Saddam Hussein's son, Uday. I broke down and had to go get my ColorNook to watch the trailer outside. Pretty bizarre, that Uday, (Udey?) and his double.

I live in an outdoor paradise but never enjoy it like this. All I do is work, like weed and trim.

I vow to do better in the future, i.e., smell the roses.

1. Toasted Chocolate Chip Muffins!???!!!!
They'd make me joyful in an urban hovel! What a great idea to take your indoor cats out in cages. I'll bet they love it!
Let the weeds go occasionally...and enjoy....

2. the funny thing
Is that as I drive around, like to my job or whatever, I admire people's patios, decks, etc. I say, "Oh wow, if I had that, I'd be out there reading the paper or visiting with my friends all the time!"

And here I live in a place with two decks and a patio and it's August. This is the first time I did that!

3. I read one every day. Does that make me a Luddite?
It goes great with the first two cups of coffee and two cigs, out on the screen porch.

4. no, I don't think so
I was amazed at the changes, particularly the greatly increased amount of color. Like any other experience that a person doesn't have for a period of time, the changes stand out. I don't know if your newspaper uses a large amount of color, but if it does, you might not notice the increase in color as its increase was probably gradual.

Another experience I don't have often is retail shopping in department stores. That has changed quite a bit, too.

5. Last year I was back in SoCal and bought a copy of the LA Times for the first time in many years.
It was so SAD how THIN it was - less than 50 pages total: Front section, metro, op-ed, sports, ads, everything. I joked that I remembered the time when some of the articles were 50 pages long.

Anyway, very depressing - used to read that paper practically cover-to-cover.

6. I don't know that I'm interested in Uday's movie
but I dig that they use Personal Jesus in the trailer...I think that's a cover though...either way it's a great song...
