Has anyone here ever attempted animation?

As you all know, I've revived my video making hobby for the sake of a new show. However, I want to try to do animated vids in the style of Adult Swim bumps, some of which are animated, like this one: http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/3364

If the "hand push" part was shot at 24FPS and lasted for approx two seconds, then 48 frames were needed for that second. I'm just wondering how they layered the video flames. Any ideas?

1. It looks more like ten frames a second

That's what a lot of old television animation was shot at. Take three frames, move figure, take three more frames, move figure... and that yielded a film print that was easily converted to 60 frame per second NTSC interlaced video.

Occasionally I'll see a few Eadweard Muybridge animated gifs bouncing around the internet that I made many years ago from library book scans.

I haven't made any animated gifs like that for a long time, so I'm not up to date on the software.

2. I can do 10 to 12FPS no prob

At least that won't be as labor intensive. I wish that I had a printer. I could create and print templates and just animate things like lips and eyes. I've got a lot of respect for even minor animators

I want to say it was Lorien but I don't recall for certain...and I haven't seen her or any mentions of Disney animation work in a while. :shrug:

7. Check out Blender - open source animation software

If you can get to their site, there are tons of tutorials and demonstrations of how to use the program. And it's all free!
