1. I'm too much of a creampuff. I can't give a speech. I don't hear well. I have no memory for faces or
names so I am terrible at sucking up. LOL!

2. I don't lie easily or convincingly.
I have the charisma of a soap dish.

And, there have been too many "youthful indiscretions" in my past.

Too many skeletons. My sure my more flameworthy internet posts would dissuade all but the most foolish ( the Terminator as Governor? Wouldn't that be COOL?") of voter.

I've actually been asked.

6. Other: Because I like to think I have a LITTLE bit of integrity.
Just a teensy weensy little bit. And that's too much to be a politician.

18. I think it is possible to be a politician and still have integrity in Canada. Look at Bob Rae.
When his view of the world changed he changed parties and is doing a good job as leader of the Liberals.

But I agree it may be very hard to have integrity in Washington.

16. I would actually enjoy the work. It's the money-grubbing I couldn't stand.
All that schmoozing and butt-kissing for donations would be repulsive.

I actually ran for convention delegate a few years ago and it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed getting out and talking to people, even the grouchy ones.

17. So many reasons why I could never be elected.
1. Too honest, I will answer any question exactly how I feel, not how polls tell me I should answer.
2. Not enough money, you have to put too much of your own money into it, and I have none to give.
3. Not enough time, I have to work for a living, and campaigning takes lots of time and at the times when I have to work.
4. Atheist, need I say more.
5. No patience for stupid, and I doubt that voters want to hear what I think of them.

Should I continue?

oh yeah, forgot about that one. You gotta be religious to get elected. Not just religious but a Christian! the right kind of Christian! especially in tha' South.

No way I'd ever get elected seeing as how I have an aversion to organized religion and am not and have never been a part of one.

24. Lots of reasons.
Edited on Wed Aug-03-11 10:57 PM by The Velveteen Ocelot
I have all the charisma and personal charm of a stump, or maybe Tim Pawlenty.
I have a great face for radio.
I would rather lance an infected hemorrhoid with a plastic party fork than make fundraising calls.
I would take great personal offense when my opponent said mean things about me.
I would be mortified if political cartoonists published unflattering cartoons about me.
I would be bored comatose reading and discussing policy statements, draft legislation and other wonkitude.
I am lazier than Sarah Palin, although I'd like to think I'm smarter.
Television makes me look fat (fatter).
Some of the indiscretions of my youth might come back to haunt me.
I could not claim with a straight face that God wanted me to be elected.
I could not make myself say a lot of the shit politicians have to say.

26. I'm poly
It took how many years to elect a black man? We haven't elected a white woman yet. GLBT? And sex scandals kill politicians. Living in a multipartner household pretty much qualifies as a sex scandal in this childish, priggish society. So any money spent on me campaigning would be wasted.

29. Well, I would say 'frequent and unfettered use of the F-Word' but,
that didn't seem to be a hindrance to Rahm Emmanuel in his election as mayor of Chicago.

So I guess I'm good to go.

30. With my background? HA!
Plus, I have a fear of public speaking. I lost my voice in the middle of a presentation once in school, purely from nerves. I could . not. speak. Most humiliating thing to ever happen to me at the time.

Maybe it would be different with politics, since I really care and all. And once I got riled up I'd lose my nerves? I don't know. ANyway, being in the spotlight isn't for me.
