2. This will be the hottest summer on record here
Not good when combined with the fact that the whole state is in a drought - and most of it in extreme drought.

4. Thank you
We need it.

Lots of water rationing around here.

Framers have lost their crops. Ranchers have sold their herds. Lots of ponds going dry.

And the vegetation is dying. If you have the water you can't keep things hydrated because of the heat. It doesn't even cool down much at night.

10. We've had fire weather warnings as well
Many here are not familiar with those.

There were/are several fires in the area now. Contained to my knowledge. But there were evacuations.

17. Keeping the plants hydrated
is near impossible.

Doggies are happy to stay inside and oly go out briefly - and only when necessary. One dog is in an obedience class and we do all his homework - including heeling exercises - inside.

Me? I'm keeping the blinds and curtains closed, staying in as much as possible and eating cold things that do not need to be warmed.

We trying to survive here.

23. Reminds me of the summer of 2001 (I think it was) in Oklahoma
Went like 30-40+ days straight of 100+ temperatures. I know it must be approaching that number now, and I think the overall temperatures are even hotter this year. Makes me glad I'm watching it from afar ;)

And it never rained that summer, for I don't know how many days straight. I remember the night when it finally did rain, we poured ourselves a few drinks and took our lawn chairs on the front patio just to listen and watch the rain :)

Here's hoping y'all get a day like that soon. :toast:

25. What a lovely idea
Perhaps I should set aside some special indulgence for such an occasion.

BTW, I remember that summer. I moved in the August heat. Ugh. At least I'm not moving. Thaks for that reminder.

26. Point taken
Six months ago we were 20 below zero and had a blizzard with 2 feet of snow. Extreme winter weather for this location.

I like having 4 distinct seasons. But the weather extremes are a bit much sometimes.

And don't even ask about tornadoes. I HATE storm season.

20. I imagine that the heat would be a bit more tolerable if
the lows would drop off more at night. At least the concrete would have a chance to drop a few more degrees.

Thanks.

16. If you have a basement water around the house
so the basement doesn't collapse under the weight of the house as the ground pulls away from the foundation
Happened to me one hot and dry period.

22. No basement here but
there have been lots of problems with cracked foundations and such. I'm trying to keep the foundation watered.

Thanks for mentioning it.
