Normally, I love Spider-Man...
however, the new teaser-trailer for the Spider-Man reboot just left me cold:

I grew up reading Spidey comics religiously from the early 70s through the mid 90s - he is (by far) my favorite super hero. I loved the first Spidey movie with Tobey Maguire. I thought the second was pretty good, but thought the 3rd movie was a bloated mess. I wanted to see all of them, and I looked forward to all three in the theaters. Even though I disliked the 3rd movie, I never really felt "meh" about any of them. For some reason, this teaser left me going "meh" I'm not sure I want to see it.

What say you?

1. Although a tad cheesy, the Raimi films were fun; sorry they stopped.
I agree with you about the progression, and I'm not even interested in a "reboot".

2. Here's my issue with the new Spiderman - I think it was rebooted way too quickly
I mean the last Spiderman with Tobey McGuire was extremely successful but the last of that trilogy was 2007 and now only 5 years later they're rebooting it again already?

Geez can you give it at least a decade. I could understand if they did one Spiderman with McGuire and it totally sucked (like they did the Incredible Hulk - Eric Bana sucked at it so 2-3 years later they had Ed Norton take on the role).

Michael Keaton's Batman started in 1989 with a 2nd movie in 1992. Technically the Val Kilmer and George Clooney Batman were part of the series but they were so awful that it did feel like enough time elapsed until the 2005 reboot of the series with Christian Bale.

3. Thank you!
Here I thought I was the only one. I was afraid I had contracted late onset adultitis. I WANT to love the new Spiderman but I just don't have any interest in it. (I agree with Lynne that it's too soon for the same story. IF they wanted to make a new movie with a new guy and new villain then I would probably be filling my phone and computer up with new Spidey wallpapers and sound effects but I am just not interested in another spider bite.)

But I think I'll be OK. Can't wait for Conan and I enjoyed Cowboys and Aliens. The kid in me is alive and well.

4. I seem to remember seeing this exact movie before...
At least this Spidey is better looking than Maguire. Not enough to get my cash though.

5. well, the teaser makes it clear the story is somewhat different
it has Peter Parker as a child with his parents and then the parents sending him away to Aunt May & Uncle Ben...

6. Apparently, this is like an alternate universe Spidey
Maybe Tobey's coming back?

7. I already posted a lament about this in the Comic Book group
It appears that they're going to use the lame-ass plotline wherein Peter's parents were uber-secret spies.

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

8. This thing looks like a complete travesty
Spider-Man is supposed to be a funny smartass, not some angst-ridden emo kid. This is obviously pandering to the Twilight crowd.

And did anyone ask for a reboot? The third movie was pretty bad, but it didn't warrant a complete reconstruction of the series.
