OK, I actually DE- or BE-headed 'em.
But down here in coastal Alabama, you 'head' shrimp.
I used the thumb-and-index-finger guillotine.
:-)

Heads in one bowl, corpses in another.
They're white shrimp.

It takes a while to get 20 lbs. ready for the freezer.
But it'll be worth it in the coming months.
$2.50 a pound for what my shrimper said were 'mostly 20 to 30 a pound'.
He makes a half a buck a pound, and we save the same amount by buying directly from the boat.

That's usually smallish 'gumbo' size, but there were a lot of larger ones suitable for grilling and frying.

So...what did you do today?
;-)

1. I've spent most of the day washing the kids' baby clothes after discovering
that they smell musty/moldy. I had really hoped to save them for their kids, but now they probably aren't salvageable.

Glad your day was a better one! :)

2. Try hanging them out in the sunshine.
Might take a couple of days, and you'll have to bring them in at night. But, it's worth a try not to have to toss them.

4. I've washed them and rinsed them in vinegar. Unfortunately, I can't hang them out, so
I'm going to repack them for now and then after we move in September I'll do small washes in baking soda, and more vinegar rinses, and hang them out on the clothesline that hubby said he will put up for me. :)

6. Aw jeez.
Look, I have no idea what the long term effects of the BP disaster are.
And no one else does either.

There's nothing wrong with the shrimp.
I wouldn't let my family eat them if I thought there was.
They're not bottom feeders.

Believe me, we've got marine biologists from several southeast universities checking all gulf catches.

7. Just took a shower...however...
Fresh shrimp don't smell like anything but salt water.
If they smell 'shrimpy', look out.

8. Took my 7-year-old fishing.
No action, then, just when we were ready to give up, she caught a tiny sunfish---hooked cleanly and released. It was a beautiful day!

Oh, and we had shrimp (pre-headed) and pasta for dinner :)
