It really doesn't matter who fired the first shots today that killed so many people. It's perception. All the Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has to do is lift his little pinky finger and there she goes..BANG.

Bremer and gang have made a huge mistake in targeting the Clerics and I think they're about to make even bigger ones..... SUCH as the continuing arrests of the Clerics....

Here's the rub... 2 years ago when the rumblings of war were emerging from Dubya, we here at DU discussed why it was an awful idea and we used what is going on today in Iraq as the basis of our opinions of why the unilateral invasion would turn into a disaster! 2 years ago!!.

What's funny is back then I had limited knowledge about the history of that region and I still figured out that it would be a disaster....I guess Lawrence of Arabia had a lasting effect on me? :shrug:

But it didn't take much to figure out what would happen in Iraq if we invaded. Just follow what's going on with the Palestinians and multiply that by the relative number of Iraqis.
