What did you eat today?
Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 01:19 AM by JaySherman
Just had seafood curry with rice and milk for lunch :9. The simple pleasures in life are the best. My mouth is still tingling from the curry spice.

1. Where are you?
It's a bit after midnight here -- so no eating today yet.

For lunch yesterday, I had African food (peanut stew and a rice dish).

11. I feel your pain.
I'm usually a pretty good chef, but I fucked up the rosti tonight. Couldn't get it to stick. But trying's half the fun, right?

Those are very cute pets. I assume they are yours. I have two dogs, but lost my kitty to cancer last month. Names? Mine are two terriers, both rescue, as was my cat.:-)

16. George and Prince
We got the dog, Prince, on a day when Mom and I were supposed to be out shopping for a computer. We made a detour in a pet store, and fell in love with the little pup. We walked out of there with him that night.

George was a rescue. A girl brought this little skin & bones kitten into my work, and asked if anyone could take him. Apparently he was found at a party the night before. Some sick kids wanted to throw him in the pool :grr:. She couldn't keep him because her cats were beating him up. This was shortly after my last dog had died, so I was still in mourning, and our family had never owned a cat (my parents always refused). So of course, I said "What the hell, I'll take him." He nearly got us both killed twice on the way home when he got out of his box, climbed onto the dashboard, and then managed to wiggle his way under the brake.

George hated Prince when we brought him home. He had been king of the house for 2 years. Now the two are inseparable.

Sorry to hear about your cat :(.

17. Well, they are both just adorable
I used to dog-sit a friend's little tri-color sheltie and he was the smartest dog I have ever known. And kudos to you for taking the cat. I know, from friends in animal rescue, that they are tougher to place than dogs. All my guys are rescue, but losing my cat was particularly difficult for me, since I rescued her myself. BTW, Rhiannon was my previous cat, who was a marvelous personality, whom I lost all too soon. I am so glad that they get along. It isn't always easy. I have had my difficulties with the dogs. Anyway, these photos aren't perfect, but these are my guys, Meneken and Sara.

19. Meneken is a Brussels Griffon, a very rare dog to find in rescue
since they are just very rare dogs. My friend knows someone who paid $1800 for a puppy. But this tiny guy was threatened with euthanasia twice, believe it or not. His owner was an older woman who died. She had two, this little guy and his biological sister. She was a wealthy woman and I cannot understand why she didn't make provisions for her beloved little dogs. The estate never claimed them and they ended up with their groomer who didn't want them and planned on having them euthanized. How easy such small dogs would have been to place. One of his clients took them, but just wanted one, and kept the sister. She was the leader. Another guy eventually adopted him, but the little guy had issues with men and didn't get along with his beloved dog, so he actually also had plans to euthanize him. I had two cocker spaniels, but lost my perfect Barney in November of 2002 and it seemed that my other cocker seemed to be really missing him. So, on a whim, I called on an article that a friend had sent me about another blond, male cocker that was looking for a home. That dog had long been adopted, but she told me about another little dog that was in real trouble. It was tiny Meneken. He and my other cocker, Sheena, were instantly inseparable, but I lost her last May. It was so heartbreaking, since she was the sister that he lost. He loved her so much. I finally adopted Sara last October and, so far, so good. Sometimes he snaps at her, but she is very even-tempered and puts up with him. He may never love her like his sister or Sheena, but he was never meant to be an only dog. Thanks for inquiring, LOL! He is nine pounds. My vet has given me hell since he has put on weight!:D

22. Matilda always eats well
She's like a little kitty vacuum cleaner. She's still thin from her thyroid problem--they say her thyroid levels are normal but she just can't seem to gain weight. She's been taking advantage of her svelte shape by sucking in her sides and screaming that she's starving when the gourmet catfood isn't forthcoming.

cats always get high thyroid, dogs always get low thyroid, people can go both ways.

27. Really. Interesting information. I asked my vet about this
My Barney and Sheena, both cocker spaniels, and ME, were all low thyroid. Now my terrier, Sara, was diagnosed as such and is also on meds. He said my cat had a slightly enlarged heart, which could have meant hyper-thyroid, which led to my question about thyroid being so prominent, these days. How could we all be affected? Turns out the kitty wasn't, but I never thought of thyroid until all of us, human and canine, seem to have been affected.

Really fancy. A handful of my friends woke me up (way too early), but it was OK, as they brought this baby along (sorry, nobody thought of taking a photo while it was still intact):
