Hahahaha suckers!!! Zonies don't have to change their clocks!
I can go to bed and sleep peacefully, and not worry about changing 12 or 13 clocks and watches. I will remain on a stable sleep schedule without the 'jetlag' disorientation that DST brings.

Won't lose an hour of sleep... ahhhhhh.

DST is obsolete. Suckers. :P

2. but you can't undo the jetlag effect
Takes the body 8 days to adjust. No clock in the world gives you back that hour of sleep you need when spring rolls around.

7. 1 hour, EIGHT DAYS to adjust??
a one hour shift is practically invisible to me.

besides, the usual jetlag recovery rule of thumb is 1 hour shift == 1 day recovery.

8. for the most part, 1 day is enough
Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 01:19 AM by ZombyWoof
But I am talking the full spectrum of physiological effects, subtle ones not readily apparent, such as REM cycles and metabolism too. Not just how you feel. 1 day is enough for a general adjustment, but by next Sunday your body will finally have made all of the other circadian-based adjustments too.

The problem is, the human brain is still stuck on the 25 hour clock of our early primate ancestors. That is one reason even an hour's difference wreaks havoc on barely detectable levels.

12. I always admired the Queensland (Australia) rationale
for rejecting summer time.

1 - The cows wouldn't like it.

2 - All the extra sunlight would fade the curtains.

3 - It was interfering with God's time.

That's why (among many other reasons) the state is known as the world's largest outdoor lunatic asylum.

3. Yep, but it's nice to have that extra hour in April.
I'll take the trade-off.

4. you lose an hour in April
You get it back in October, but I prefer the trade-off of not being bothered twice a year with clock changes and jetlagginess.

It goes against nature to be changing the clocks like that.

18. Duh! I shouldn't post after drinking a bottle of wine.
I meant October. I live in Chicago, the edge of the Central time zone, so I like it because it really does give us daylight when we need it...but I agree. The clock changing is a pain in the ass!

6. I'd say we're superior but I've lived here long enough to know
that this is the Valley of the Dumb. Education in AZ sucks. People can't drive worth a damn.

I agree that DST is goofy. I always had a problem adjusting in April. And the cats were totally goofy -- they had a harder time adjusting than I did, being the creatures of light that they are.

The coolest thing is in summer the sun comes up here (Japan) at like 4 a.m.

I like the April shift though, cause now I can catch a few of my favorite radio programs again that I missed cause of work.

14. Didja know that Ben Franklin invented DST?
That's the only thing old Ben did that was kind of goofy. Otherwise, he was awesome.

15. yep!
I was going to mention that. He was also goofy in suggesting the turkey be our national bird. Seriously.

No wait, that would have been PERFECT.

On a side note, although he invented the idea, it was not reality until the late 19th century.

(Damn, I am a know-it-all tonight)
