I mean on the job . . . copies of invoices, expense reports, etc. I swear I must be the only person.

What about you? Do you keep electronic copies instead of paper?

1. I keep both. It never fails - some damn idiot will INSIST that you print out the electronic copy...
...and FAX it in to them.

Besides, most of the fucking credit card companies only let you view the previous six months of records online. Fuck that noise.

And I'll take my trusty file cabinets any day over hunting around on GOD knows how many external drives looking for some backup that has some file that might be the right one. I can put sticky notes on the paper if I need to remind myself of what it was about for future reference. The "memo" feature in file browsers is pretty much useless.

3. I can't rely on our backup system.
So I print it out on recycled paper (I use the unused side) and file both the paper and the e-copy. I've had to rebuild computer records twice. I don't know what I would have done without the paper.

Maybe I'll regain confidence someday, but it won't be soon.

6. I have to have both
Most highly regulated environments do keep both hard and electronic, though some of our data is now mostly electric. But yes, many notebooks with paper results around these parts.

7. No, I'm the same way
.... I'm totally paperless - everything is digital. I work in IT and my office cubicle is set up exactly the same way as my home computer - I could literally pack my small amount of things and put in a box to take home within 60 seconds. We are big in disaster recovery and I am a minimalist meaning I don't have any possessions I don't absolutely need... which includes paper printouts, printed manuals, handwritten notes, etc. It all gets scanned and then the originals shredded. I envision retiring with my wife and living on a boat or an RV (she hasn't exactly been told this fantasy :-) with a couple of duffel bags, a couple of laptops (or whatever passes for them in 25 years), a toolbox and a few small mementos.
