Is anybody else still watching "Falling Skies"? (spoilers)
It's slowly growing on me. They seem to be taking a deliberate approach by taking the time to get to know the characters. In that way it's already better than most gimick shows at imitating LOST. A lot of gimick shows overload on the mysteries and twists and turns and either forget to or ignore trying to make the audience like the characters. At least so far, Falling Skies is making the effort to hash out the characters first before jumping headlong into guerrilla warfare against the aliens.

I am glad that they seem to have wrapped up the main family plot point early by getting Ben back and un-harnessed. It was starting to turn into their version of "WAAAAAAALT!". It looks like the next couple episodes will have more fighting as the kids are taken to a safer place.

Anyone else still watching it?

1. I aaaaalllllmost quit watching it.

In my opinion, it was turning into Land Of The Lost.

Run out and forage. Run back to the base. Repeat ad infinitum.

In fact, if they stay at JFK High any longer and the aliens don't bomb the hell out of them, I'm out.

EDIT: Getting rid of the kids is one of the more realistic things I saw in the preview, so I'll stick for now.

2. yeah, it looks like the Skitters are coming to steal back the kids

so the humans hide them somewhere. Hopefully that also means we'll see some fighting.

The show's problem right now is that the cast is too damn big. You can't fight a guerrilla insurgency if you have to watch over 200 (so far, ineffective) civilians. The cast needs to be lightened, either by sending the kids into the woods or through an attack. Then maybe we'll get the humans taking the fight to the aliens.

9. Less "family drama" and more action - - I'm all for that
Why do they say the skitters are so hard to kill? They always say that, but they don't appear to be wearing armor or anything. They shot the legs off one of them easily enough. Why won't shooting them in the head or chest work? They don't even carry weapons.
So a salad spoon down the throat is the way to go? pul-leeze

And you'd think that an advanced 'mother' alien would have noticed that one of the "harnessed" kids wasn't plugged in. It's not like all the other harnesses were glowing while Hal's was dark.

That's it - - I'm rooting for the aliens now. Kill all the filthy humans. (except Moon)

3. They are on the verge of losing me
There is far to little that happens each episode and what does happen is really not holding my interest. Far too much time is spent with the camera man wandering around showing how sad everyone is... yeah, yeah, we get it after five episodes. The most interesting stuff seems to just get dropped and not mentioned again... The big structures that appeared... That the main ships left... other groups fighting... The gang guy that was also a cook. Even the douchebag that tried to run off with Dad's wife... They try to build tension there for four episodes and then have him unceremoniously killed by the alien and I don't think Dad even commented on it. WTF is that? If they ditch the kids and start focusing on more interesting things, I might stick with it but if they don't get into it in another episode or two I'll be done.

13. I'm with you, Ohio Joe
my SO loves this show, and it frustrates the hell out of me. I am not someone that demands that my entertainment is a roller-coaster ride, in fact one of my favorite movies ("How to Make an American Quilt" is almost all character-study. But this is just frustrating.

4. I'm a sucker for this kind of crap
So, yeah, I'm still watching. 10 p.m. on Sunday night is past the time I turn into a pumpkin, but I catch the On Demand replay later in the week. I was a little surprised by a couple of the developments in the first half hour of last night's show ('nuff said), and will continue to watch.

5. if they don't rev it up this coming Sunday, I'm calling it quits
The last two episodes have been bad, and everyone just acts so incredibly stupid - yes, leave the alien in the room with the kid who just got the harness off his back, and then let his angry dad in there alone with the alien with a freaking gun. Are they all idiots? Enough already with rescuing Ben.

It's just gotten sappy and stupid; I hope they course-correct, b/c I'd love to have a good SciFi show to watch.

6. I've stuck with it so far, but
not much of the show has really stuck with me. I like the lead actor Noah Wylie, but other than him & the hot pediatrician, I haven't really cared much for the characters.

7. Hanging on by a thread.....barely
As long as the story keeps moving forward, i'll keep watching the smarmy kid hugging, I guess. So far they've learned something new about the aliens each episode. I'm willing to endure the syrupy feel good scenes if they keep things moving that way....maybe not for much longer though.

The best way to kill the alien is to stick your arm down it's throat and stab it's brain from the inside? C'mon Spielberg - is that the best you can do?

Probably the only real reason I'm still hanging around is ...Moon

12. Another 'run out, rescue thekids, retreat back to the base' episode?
If the aliens want the children, why the fuck are they keeping the children down the fucking street from the goddam aliens?

FUCK!

This show is now on Zero Tolerance Probation.

One more shitty episode and I'm done.

16. it was really a disappointment - but I'll probably hang in there for the
final two episodes.

A lot of potential, very poor execution.

17. I'll watch also...
Hard to believe the producers could come up with such a pedestrian
production of the most fantastic concept of all time, alien invasion
of the earth. I've seen better but can't really think of any show/movie
that does the topic justice.

more episodes that you guys? They learned something new tonight. Next week's last episode is 2-hours long.

19. I been threatening to bail on this series for a bit now.
But since there are only 2 episodes left (I record mine on Mondays due to recording conflicts on Sunday), I'll tough it out.

But I am not pleased.

20. Q: Still watching? A: Not anymore.
I powered throught the 2 episode "finale".

Bad writing. Bad shooting. Bad acting. Lousy effects.

I gave it a chance. But no season 2 for me. I'm out.
