Clear skies? Check the waxing near-full moon and Jupiter.
Jupiter is ahead of the moon in the ecliptic plane. I just zero-beated on two of Jupiter's moons with my telescope. Severe clear on the mountain tonight. If I weren't so tired from painting all day, I'd put some fire in the 75-meter wire. I might tune a while, anyway.

1. ...."I'd put some fire in the 75-meter wire."
I'm sorry.

I have no clue. What does the above mean?

3. Ham radio talk.
Fire-in-the-wire means to transmit a high-powered signal (up to 1500 watts). There are a number of ham radio operators at DU.

2. Are you at Big Bend or in W TX?
I'm close to the coast and it's clear enough to view. Jupiter is pretty bright, but we don't have a tele.

There 's nothing that beats star gazing on a mountain in the clear.

6. Great sky for binocs. Big objects. E-Z to find.
I changed over after tracking Jupiter for a while. I prefer binocs.

7. I have a 10" dob
but my injury prevents me from using it. It's too heavy to lift.

binocs are nice. I'd like to have some giants, but I just don't have the money for them.

5. Nope. Neither. I'm in the western mountains of North Carolina.
I'm not-quite-yet-ex-Texas. But I'm counting the hours. My last day of Texas residency for tax purposes will be 5/2/2004.
