Glen Campbell reveals Alzheimer's diagnosis
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2011/06/glen-campbell-reveals-alzheimers-diagnosis/1

This is so sad.....and can't believe he's 75.

To those of you who can't think of Glen Campbell without humming a few bars of his classic 1968 songs Wichita Lineman or Gentle on My Mind, here's some sad news.

The country singer/actor, 75, and his wife, Kim, tell People magazine that Campbell has Alzheimer's disease.

They have decided to go public with Campbell's health news diagnosis because he's hoping to say farewell with a final slate of live performances this fall – and they want his fans to be aware of the musician's condition, reports People.

"Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer," says Kim. "But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn't want people to think, 'What's the matter with him? Is he drunk?' "

1. Sad news...an incredibly talented guy, both as a singer and a terribly under-appreciated picker
Some old-timers here in Albuquerque will be saddened. I know a few who still remember him playing with The Sandia Mountain Boys here when he was just a kid beginning his journey to fame and fortune. And as probably some people aren't aware of, he was a Beachboy for awhile too, way back when.

2. That's so sad
I've been a huge fan since I was a young lad, my mom had a lot of his records and he was influential on me when I was learning to play early on. Nobody could play a 12 string like Glen.

The BBC radio is going to have a special sometime this fall about Glen and Jimmy Webb and the song Wichita Lineman. A dear friend of mine who is a lineman and a musician as well is going to be interviewed and featured in the program. The producer of the segment wanted to interview a real live lineman for the program and when she stumbled across my friend and found out he was also a musician, songwriter, and that we had planned to do a cover of Wichita Lineman on his next album, she knew she had the right guy. We start recording the instrumental tracks this Friday. :)
