Are progressive guys allowed to look at beautiful women and think....
oh God I would so love to...

Tonight Matthews, who I generally like, went into this "there are a lack of great Dem women." Nobody even mentioned Warren (because the Pucks are too lame to confirm her appt?).

Damn I was pissed at Matthews. But then, I started watching Wasserman Shultz and her stunning baby blues.

I couldn't help it...she's fucking gorgeous so I forgot my justified anger at Matthews and I started thinking "damn she is hot (is this enough on DU to get me banned?).. and I would like to (I won't get detailed here unlike perhaps Weiner).

Maybe my way our of my liberal pc guilt is to say part of what makes her hot is that I think she is also brilliant. Would that work? (I really do think she's brilliant)

But back to Matthews (and that's damn hard after staring at Wasserman Shultz). No significant Democratic women? Jesus I don't know where his brain was tonight but it certainly wasn't in front of the camera.

And damn wherever his brain was you might guess by now where my eyes were.

Okay....that's it, I know I can never post on DU again but I swear I just couldn't help it.

1. You're feeling guilty about what puts the Woodrow in your Wilson?
Unless it involves minors or reptiles, don't worry about it.

Heck. I'm being a prude. If the reptiles are old enough to legally consent...

2. agree
Wasserman Shultz is pretty hot.

Whether or not that is ok depends upon your level of progressiveness.

4. Jimmy Carter did it, so it must be ok
Remember, he even admitted to committing "adultery" in his heart or something like that (I was a tad young then).

It's a well known fact that Democrats/Progressives make much better lovers. I don't have a citation for you but trust me it's true :)

5. NO! Close your eyes. DONT LOOK!
Since when did being attracted to someone become a crime.

6. I'd never feel guilty about lusting after an attractive woman
now, stalking her or sending her lewd pictures via twitter or some other method is another story.

And, there are a lot of great Democratic women - Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Nancy Pelosi, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Barbara Boxer, Rosa DeLauro, and plenty of others.

The problem is that many of them get no media attention - there are so many great Democratic women that it's not a novelty like it is on the Republican side with Palin & Bachmann.

7. i guess it depends if you are saying no great dem women as in pinup or politician
Edited on Tue Jun-21-11 07:23 AM by seabeyond
if tweety's comment was made suggesting dems have no pinup, and the op made political woman into a pinup, and created the dem politician as a pinup, then i can see how the same game was played by all the men, in assessing political women's ability. not on worth, but "hit it" capacity.

9. Kirsten Gillibrand is physically attractive
and, she is a terrific politician...and I am sure there are other women in the House that are as well.

Again, it's because they don't get publicity like Republican women.

10. presentation. palin, bauchmann use sexuality. ergo, they are preceived as pin up
the attractive dem women do not use sexuality. ergo, they are not pinup.

what women have been fighting and pissed off about forever, since entering the work force.

but the reason it is so hurtful to women is exactly this. the men commentators dismissing all dem women, because the women are not using sexuality to sell. where as the OP (and not blaming or pointing figure) falls right into the game with his post. creating women to compete in sexuality, instead of brain

11. good point
Democratic women (and men) do well because of their ideas. Republican women need to use their looks to get ahead.

12. Yes you are! A lefty guy chases a woman until she pounces upon him and... and...
So what is the problem? I am very attracted to women who do not use makeup and have curly hair. Although I did not foolishly limit myself to that!

When I was younger I was just too shy, so my buddies said, "Red Cloud, just go out and ask the prettiest girl you know out. She will be too busy for you and say no. So you will gain some experience asking out girls and having your heart rejected in the process..."

Shocker: She said yes!

13. The trouble with thinking like that is
if it's on a purely physical level, you could feel that way about any beautiful woman regardless of politics and intelligence. But in genuine attraction, I would think inner attractiveness would be way more important to establishing and maintaining and relationship and even in inducing physical attraction. Looks are great if you can get them, but they should be a secondary matter.

Guy. Girl. Gay. Straight.

We're all human.
