12. Nothing I do or say on this board is absolutely necessary
I've just always enjoyed saying "dumbass."

Been a big fan of that word ever since JVS threw it out in my fake Sopranos spoiler thread from a few years ago.

One of these things is not like the other ...

Three of them can PLAY.

6. It's all about pretense.
That whole "prog rock" thing. Truth is, it's neither prog nor rock.

15. for one thing, they really give you your money's worth
A lot of acts will do a set of 45 minutes to an hour. Go to a Rush concert, and you will witness three-and-a-half hours of amazing musicianship. I've been to seven or eight of their shows over the years, and I've never been disappointed. They don't come around these parts as much as they used to though. Plus, concert tickets, in general, have gotten so much more expensive these days that I don't go to many shows anymore.

18. OK, OK, they can play.
But Geddy's singing, well, that just negates it all.

10. For me, I just don't like RUSH
They can play their instruments, so its not their skill that gets to me. It's just the music - I tried hard to get into Rush a number of times, but they never did it for me.

I do like YYZ, however, and think its one of the greatest drum solos done in Rock history. Up there with Moby Dick and Bonzo's Montreaux.

16. if you don't like it, you don't like it. nothing wrong with that.
Did you happen to catch Neil Peart on Letterman last week, during "Drum Solo Week?" It was a very rare television appearance. Peart had to cut his drum solo down to five minutes!

I hope Letterman can book the band as a whole on an upcoming show. I don't consider that likely, though, seeing that their appearance on Colbert a few years ago was their first US television appearance in 30 years.
