DU Technogeeks All the sudden voice audio sounds don't play on my computer
Everything was fine earlier. I re-started my computer and started a game and noticed that there was something wrong with the sounds. Weapon sounds were normal but NPC voice, and some ambient sounds like footsteps were not playing or highly distorted.

System sounds are normal, but no voices will play on youtube videos. Some sounds, and music will play, but no voices come through. I've rebooted the system several times, run explorer, firefox, chrome and all show the same defect. I checked my sound panel, ran the test and it seems fine, but those are all system sounds.

I am not very familiar with Windows 7 but the device drivers seem to be normal.. I'm stumped, does anyone have a suggestion.

1. My dear denbot...
I actually have no idea, but I didn't want you to think we were ignoring your thread...

That sounds weird.

I have Windows 7, and it has never done this.

I hope someone will be able to help...

2. There are a number of things it could be
but here are some quick ideas (when messing with cables have sound, speakers off):
*) Check any control knobs on speakers (/controller) for settings.
*) Check cables, clean contacts (sometimes just pulling them out and putting them back in helps).
*) Try plugging in another set of speakers, headphones, etc.
*) Sometimes the sound output is duplicated over a second output; if so, try connecting to this.

Over the years when my sound started to screw up (hardware-wise) it was usually the amp (in the base speaker), more rarely the sound card (motherboard components).
