I think on that song often, and it was of great help to me.
Also the story of elves accepting mortality to form empathy.

And not chase after immortality by being told how to get it by giving up love and compassion, then in that bravery of accepting mortality and end of life, they find true life of love. Although I ignore the 'fate' part, since that can be shown not true.
