1. That must have been one hell of a workout.
I've heard of wrestlers drinking a gallon of water before weigh to meet the requirements. I guess if you were full to begin with and lost a lot of water weight, maybe.

4. I swam 30 football fields...
then sat in a jacuzzi for 20 minutes. Then lifted weights for another 45 minutes.

And did pee.

But didn't drink any water. If it's water weight, does that mean I lost 4 lbs. of sweat? BTW the scale is deadly and depressingly accurate to the nearest tenth of a pound. It cuts both ways.

5. Weigh yourself again tomorrow.

After you are re-hydrated and about the same time after you last ate today.

I know someone who is losing almost a pound a day through intense dieting and working out, 5 lbs in one workout can't be all fat.

6. You're absolutely right
I chronicle it, actually. Yesterday I lost 4+ lbs, and gained it all back today, same time.

Today, it just happened to be 5 lbs. I'm just wondering how from a physiological sense, do 5 lbs evaporate in 2 1/2 hours? Anyway...appreciate any insight. Thank you.

Being surrounded by water, you probably don't realize how much you are perspiring while in the pool and jacuzzi. 1 gallon of water is 8.3 lbs. So you lost a bit over half of that. That doesn't sound unreasonable for a intense 2 1/2 hours of exercise.

GL with your workouts.

2. It is unlikely that you burned 17,500 calories in one workout.
It is probably due to water loss. Or a dysfunctional scale.

3. Did you pee and sweat 1/2 gallon+?
That sounds like a lot, but as long as you're staying hydrated I wouldn't worry about it. (Note: I have absolutely zero knowledge or expertise on which to base that claim.)

Are you sure someone didn't 'adjust' the scale during your workout?

9. At 6'3", I would guess that weight fluctuations within 5lbs are normal
It is most likely water weight that you lost - not fat burned. tho - I'm sure with that workout you did burn a lot of calories, still, 5lbs in one day is mostly water weight/normal fluctuation. My weight fluctuates within 5 lbs regularly and I'm only 5' 3".
