back to back to back! East coast start time - about 15 minutes from now. Popping corn as I speak.

3. I'm recording them on DVR so I can have a Saturday afternoon Sci Fi Fest!
For me, hot Saturday afternoons are the time to watch 1950s Sci Fi movies - that is when Art Grindal sponsored them in Central Florida in the 1960s.

5. A totally haunting piece of music.
I understand why many dismiss Godzilla movies as being silly. After the original one they ARE all silly (which is a big part of the appeal). But the original Japanese version isn't silly at all. It's pretty powerful, and I think it's the only Godzilla movie that has the strength to transcend the sci-fi/monster genre. I think it's works in it's own right as solid anti-nuke film, and it's a fascinating insight into the Japanese psyche just 9 years removed from having two atomic bombs dropped on them.

I think Ifukube's score for the movie had a huge part to play in it's success. For it's day it was the equivalent of John Williams' score for Jaws. I can't imagine Gojira without the music. Apparently, neither can the fans, because they work Godzilla's Theme into almost every single movie still (and I'm hoping they'll work it into the new one next year). This piece that you posted is fantastic. My old girlfriend used to cry during the scene it's used in every time. :)
