1. I watched that today...
I liked it. I love Kevin Spacey.

I watched Secretariat a week or so ago, and liked that too.

Black Swan was very intense but strange too.

2. Hate to admit it...
...but that would be the 3D version of the latest "Pirates..." piece of crap, for which I blame my girlfriend.

I rec seeing it in 2D, if at all, ever, except for free.

3D adds little to nothing to the film, other than poorly fitting glasses and 3 bucks more per ticket (non IMAX).

12. God, I loved that movie!
I didn't get to see it in the theater; I wished I'd known about it. Had to watch it on hulu. Thanks for the reminder, though, so I can put it on a list for finding a copy :)

17. I expected it to be the first in a franchise
given that O'Brian wrote twenty-one novels in that series and they're all wonderful.

Director Peter Weir, asked in 2005 if he would do a sequel, stated he thought it "most unlikely", and after disclaiming internet rumors to the contrary, stated "I think that while it did well... ish at the box office, it didn't generate that monstrous, rapid income that provokes a sequel." However, early December 2010 Russell Crowe launched an appeal on Twitter to get the sequel made: “If you want a Master and Commander sequel I suggest you e-mail Tom Rothman at Fox and let him know your thoughts”.

In 2007 the film was included on a list of "13 Failed Attempts To Start Film Franchises" by The A.V. Club, noting that "... the Aubrey-Maturin novels remain untapped cinematic ground."

4. Battleground (1949)
"A squad of the 101st Airborne Division copes with being trapped in the besieged city of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge."

Read more:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041163/

The movie depicts the besieged soldiers as being saved by resupply from the air when the fog finally lifted on 26 December 1944. General Patton's Third Army, which broke through the next day, isn't even mentioned.

The cast includes a young Ricardo Montalban (who played the villain in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan").

22. Dances With Aliens was my own sobriquet for Avatar.
Not that I really disliked the film. It wasn't the most original plot I've seen, but it was an entertaining movie.

10. I saw "Inside Man" on Friday (rental) and just re-watched most of
"Love, Actually" which is an old favorite.

But really enjoyed "Inside Man". Tried to watch "War, Inc." and couldn't get past the first 20 minutes, so switched to "Inside Man" and I thought it was much better.

I'm glad I didn't make my husband watch it with me...
I would have owed him BIG TIME, as he's always complaining
about my "foreign movies".....

I would NOT recommend this movie to anyone, but I am
glad I watched it, if that makes any sense.

I thought the shoot outs and how they got away were a bit over the top and so unrealistic that it took away from how great the movie was but I'd watch it again.

24. Just watched the new "Karate Kid" Sunday night - EXCELLENT movie.
There was just enough tie-in to the original movie as far as plot and a handful of carefully placed similar lines and themes, but it completely stood on its own and was both quite serious and funny as hell at the same time. Jackie Chan was a good choice for the Miyagi character.

That's actually the second movie where he's played that role. There was one, I think it was called something like "Jade Palace" and Jet Li was ALSO in it and they BOTH played teacher roles. It involved The Monkey King and a staff that needed to be returned to him. Both Chan and Li played multiple characters. Great movie and with very little wire work, despite Li being in it.

28. American Casino, saw it on the puter last night.
American Casino is a 2009 documentary film about the American subprime mortgage crisis.
It is directed and produced by Leslie Cockburn with Andrew Cockburn as co-producer.

I learned some things I did not know, and I have been following the issue pretty closely.
This was a good time to see it, after a lot of the dust and misleading finger pointing has died down.

He loved it (of course). I still love it. (This is the original, BTW. I am a child of the '70s, dammit!)

Also watched I Capture the Castle because Netflix wouldn't leave me alone till I did. It was pretty good.

My most recent favorite: Easy A. HILARIOUS and very clever. Loved it so much I bought it on iTunes--and that makes only the third movie I own on iTunes. Exclusive club, mine. :P

43. "The Next Three Days" (netflix) with Russell Crowe.
Russell Crowe's wife is sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of murdering her female boss. Did she actually do it? You'll have to watch the movie. :)

After all lower-court legal avenues are exhausted, Russell researches & plots breaking his wife out of prison.

Recommend!
