Hit by a red-light-runner, vein blown out with contrast during MRI ... There must be a pony, right?
Edited on Sat May-21-11 07:30 PM by REP
The tech doing my MRI had trouble with my veins - not unusual, I have crappy fragile small veins that roll - so a specialist was called in. Unfortunately, it was one of those who took it as a personal affront that I have crappy fragile small veins that roll and pushed the contrast much too fast through much too small a needle, which made the vein blow. Which is extremely painful - not just from the contrast pooling under the skin, but the vein being exploded. So far, the bruise is the size and shape of a goose egg.

So tomorrow is either going to suck really bad ... or with all this shit, there must be a pony.

1. My dear REP...
I am so sorry to hear all this trouble happening to you...

Ice for your injured vein...

If you can, try to be well hydrated tomorrow.

And suggest to them that putting something warm over the vein first really helps the veins come up. I used to draw blood donors and we did this all the time. It really helps.

Good luck...

6. So sorry REP, for all your bad news
Almost every other time my SO gives blood, there's some incident with his veins, so I know how painful it can be. And it's almost as if the phlebologists blame you for having "bad veins".

So how's the pony?

9. No pony so far
And I drove across town in injured Pretty Gorgeous Beauty Car to pick up some boots I'd ordered six weeks ago ... and they weren't in afterall.

But I did get this year's platform flip-flops at Marshall's :-)

7. I am so sorry. I remember when I was 11, I was in the hospital and sleeping when the IV needle
popped out of my vein and the drip all wound up under the skin. I woke up screaming in pain and freaked out out at how large my arm was.

12. Thanks. Coulda been worse - I could've been in Joplin
Pretty Gorgeous Beauty Car is in the hospital now, having the front axle/brake/etc checked out and routine maintenance while it's there. At least I got another Nissan this time instead of a Corrolla. Not a Z, but at least it has some acceleration, unlike a ToyAuto.
