Bridgeport man called 911 to get beer

BRIDGEPORT -- Police said a local man called 911 so that medics could buy him beer.

Raymond Roberge, 65, of Queen Street, was charged Sunday with misuse of the emergency 911 system. He was released after posting $500 bond.

According to police, since the beginning of the year Roberge has called 911 79 times, and each time it has turned out to be a false alarm.

They said on Sunday he called the emergency number three times. When emergency medical personnel and firefighters arrived at his home, police said, Roberge offered to pay them if they would go to the store and buy him beer.
