And I don't care what anybody says, Deckard was a Replicant.

Discuss.

3. Oh, there were lounge wars over that.
Couple of casualties, IIRC.

4. Is it the voiceover version? If so, that sucks
And the only people who believe that Deckard is a Replicant are Ridley Scott and his apologists.

6. Yeah, it was the original theatrical release.
And take that back about Ridley Scott, or I'm telling!

...and Deckard is STILL a replicant.

So there.

5. Is this the one where Darth Vader declares he's Deckard's father?
Ridley Scott has about 50 different edited versions of this friggin movie out there.

7. If Deckard was a replicant...
he was a horribly malfunctioning one. He kept getting his ass kicked by the other replicants and survived the movie by sheer luck (people walking in on Zhora strangling him, Rachael shooting Leon while he was beating the living daylights out of Deckard, Pris leaving him on the floor in order to take a running leap at him instead of just snapping his neck, and Roy deciding not to kill him).

Yes, I've thought about this; I have the 5 DVD 25th anniversary geek fest edition.

But, I guess, in the end I agree with whoever it was that said that the question of whether or not Deckard was a replicant is interesting, the answer is not. (It was in one of the interviews in the documentary in the DVD extras)

Now where did I put my flame-retardant suit?

8. He wasn't Nexus-6, he was an earlier, inferior model.
Think 'LEO Model Nexus-5' with no self-terminating genetics, and therefore diminished physical capabilities, but superior longevity.

Although no termination times are mentioned for any other type Replicant except -6, different type replicants are intimated by Tyrell only obliquely at best.

9. Au contraire, mon frère!
Actually, in an interview in Paul M. Sammon's book "Future Noir - The Making of Blade Runner", Ridley Scott theorized that Deckard might be a more advanced form of Replicant, a Nexus-7. Instead of "More Human Than Human", they were now "Just like the real thing".

Personally, I have a theory that Deckard was neither human nor Replicant, but actually a semi-sentient table lamp. It makes sense if you think about it.

10. I don't want to comment on Harrison Ford's acting ability.
Because if I did, I would have to mention he has more in common with where a table lamp would be placed, and the type of wood it was made out of, mon ami.

11. Considering he was supposed to play an artificial human...
...he did seem to have more in common with something forged by carpentry rather than genetic engineering. :D

Maybe his head wasn't entirely in the game; in Sammon's book it sounds like he didn't get along with Ridley and also didn't connect with the rest of the cast much, only hung out in his trailer. He also was the only one who had no interest in being interviewed for the book, he had hardly any direct comments.

To me, il looks like he practically disowned the movie for 25 years, until he finally showed up for interviews for the DVD extras (I was surprised to see him). Maybe he finally realized what an impact the movie had had, even if it might not have made a huge splash at the box office.
