Who gives a rat's ass? Hopefully, she didn't get the job because of her looks. Well, maybe she did. If that's the case (that she got the job only because she was an African-American woman and not because of her credentials), it was stupid to hire her on that basis.

My teeth are not perfect (they're a bit crowded on the bottom), but they're not rotting and they're good enough to serve their purpose while not being a disfigurement. I refused to have braces, because frankly I thought it was a waste of money.

and I'm not easily offended. My girlfriend has bad teeth -- she should have gotten braces as a child but she grew up in a foreign country and their family had troubles so she couldn't get the care she needed. Now her teeth are crowded and she may need lots of work, at age 29. She works really hard to support her family, and is a really sweet person. She's very pretty, excellent figure (size 2) but the only thing wrong with her is her teeth. I worry about how it must feel for her to be in need of dental work. We're doing everything we can, but it is very painful. So this isn't very funny to me. I'm trying to judge people on the content of their character. When I was younger I judged people on their looks and it made me a really pathetic person, because people simply get worse looking as they get older (myself included), so we need to focus on character.

Thank you for recognizing and putting forth one of the reasons of the importance of cosmetic dentistry. Its part of (some of) our self image - especially in America. Many studies have been done as to the life impact of bad dentition - physiologically and psychologically and economically. Obviously this important to not just your girlfriend, but to you and her family as well. Bravo to your sensitivity.

In this day and age, in this nation, we should have a national universal high quality medical and dental system for all. We won't get any such things so long as we don't think that it is important.

I see people every day who are seeking answers to their questions about dentistry - both in the office and outside of the office. If I had a nickel for every time someone has asked me to give them a dental estimate I'd be a rich man. I see no ad hominem attack in seeking answers to questions about dentistry.

NOWHERE in my posts will you find me criticizing the diastema (the space) between Condi's centrals. No problems with that. It's the bad repair on her broken left central that I think needs to be fixed (as well as some possible need for orthodontics and occlusal adjustments).
