"Key Largo" on TCM now.
Another Bogie-Bacall classic.
Also Edward G. Robinson as the bad guy.
And Drew Barrymore's great-grandfather?
Lionel.

3. I love that movie.
'40's the Bad Guys Get Theirs (eventually) classic.
I think I remember spotting Jay Silverheels in it too, a few years ago. The only thing missing is Dan Duryea, sneering.

5. Probably my favorite Bogie movie...
...big, big lessons in that film about honor and courage and doing the right thing, about stepping up or shrinking back in the moment of truth.

What MAKES the movie is Bogart's character's HONESTY about not WANTING to be the hero, figuring he did his time in the Military and now it's someone else's turn. If he went through the movie with his chest puffed up and a rigid, steely gaze it would feel more like a "movie" than real life.

If I've watched this one once, I've watched it 100 times. It's in my top 10, along with "Tombstone" and "Goodfellas."

:toast:
