I think I've solved the mystery of Princess Beatrice's bizarre hat!
Edited on Sun May-01-11 01:53 PM by cherish44
Here's the coat of arms of her mother Sarah, Duchess of York

and the hat

Kind of simliar....maybe that strange hat was her way of protesting her mother not getting an invitation to the wedding.

Kind of a stretch but I'm really bored today :P

A bee in her bonnet would have been the perfect tribute :)

4. Phfffft!
That's not a hat. It's a frequency modulation tower. She was broadcasting bootleg footage of the wedding all over Europe.

7. I agree.
Her hat, and her sister's ill-fitting dress were both forms of protest against the snub to their mother.

Both of these girls are in line for the throne. If it ever came to that, it truly would be time to abolish the monarchy. Of course, none of that is up to us. The British can do what they like.

8. that makes sense....
I have heard over and over on other blogs that the hat was definitely a form of protest.

Anyway, really bad form (imho) that Sarah did not get an invite.

9. Well, I think it's great she let her antlers grow out.
Too many women are sanding them down to appeal to some designer's idea of beauty.

12. I love their outfits. Outlandish and fun.

Though, Bea probably didn't really *look* at the hat -- the guys over at Tom & Lorenzo said it looked like a toilet seat with ribbons, and that's all I can see.

Philip Treacy makes cool hats.

15. It looks like they used one of those Dyson fans as inspiration
Or maybe the doorknocker off the house William and Kate are going to live in.

But seriously, though: When is this "smoky eyes, no other makeup" fad going to end? The poor dear looks like a raccoon.
