My vote would be for Martika's "Toy Soldiers."

1. Emenem handled a terrible situation with a song about that.
Edited on Sun May-01-11 11:31 AM by RandomThoughts
There was an attempt to divide a cultural group by starting a violent war, while some made money off it.

And while it kept a group from working for better goals.

Eminem put out this song, overcoming that attempt.

The other side of that manufactured attempt also did the same thing and did not let something wrongly manufactured to divide people and get them to fight for no reason.

Eminem - Like Toy Soldiers

That was the song you were requesting played wasn't it?

Maybe you were thinking of this one.

One Tin Soldier
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTKx2f44tDo

Side note, research Berek Halfhands decision and how he treated the mountain people, when many perceived them as an enemy to fight. Note the story is told from perception of war in how they were seen, but Berek saw them differently.

And no this does not have to do specifically with current events, it is a choice many people make many times over many years.

And I am still due beer and travel money and many experiences.

Gesture is a hand motion.

So it is how you see it.

And go onto different lands, many see that wrong from the statement before and after it.

You don't have to look for what is in your heart.

And of coarse the long and slender body, is from the post of feet on the ground, head in the clouds.

9. But Sylvia Fricker wrote that song (Tyson).
I would think of a one-hit-wonder as someone who wrote their own song. Will post my suggestion in a separate post if I don't see it here.

48. Probably a good choice.
Longevity should be a factor.
Probably anyone who pays attention to sports is aware of this song, so that should weigh in its favor as well.
And, to me at least, it's as obnoxious as hell, so that also qualifies it.

:applause: on your choice.

I really thought they were on their way with that one, but then their lead singer died. Had kind of a thin voice, but that's not totally deadly to a band.

25. Great. Now I have earworms of obscure/weird songs
Edited on Mon May-02-11 02:52 PM by hifiguy
The Steam track gets my vote, but now I am cursed with remembering

"Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" (Mac and Katie Kissoon? - I didn't google, honest)

"They're Coming to Take Me Away (Ha-Haa!)" (Napoleon XIV)

and

"Tennessee Birdwalk" (Misty something and some guy).

:grr:

"Der Kommisar" was decidedly more tolerable, though the German version was cooler and doesn't strictly count.

Edited on Tue May-03-11 09:29 AM by hifiguy
From the short lived (but charming, IMHO) genre now called "Sunshine Pop" of the late 1960s. For some reason I LOVED that song when I was about 12. I also liked "In A Gadda Da Vida," so I was a pretty weird kid. :dilemma:

IIRC the PR's producer was Paul Leka, responsible for the Lemon Pipers' "Green Tambourine" and a lot of other similar stuff back in that bygone day.

And I double dog dare the older Lounge denizens to to top these:

"Hot Smoke and Sassafras" by Bubble Puppy

"Morning Girl" by Neon Philharmonic

and the immortal "Incense and Peppermints" by the Strawberry Alarm Clock. :P
