I was Miles Gloriosus, and Jeff was Hero, and the play was "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," 5 years ago.

It was a disaster of a show, and it went on forever. We hardly said a word to each other when it started, but I noticed him at the first rehearsal, and asked my friend Amy "Who is that?" I didn't know if he was gay or straight, so I was afraid to say anything to him, and he was just really shy, and mostly in the closet.

As the show was getting close to opening, I finally asked him to join a group of us after rehearsal at the watering hole we frequented. He said yes. Then a group of us were going to the movies, and I invited him to join us, which he did. After the movie, I asked him if we were flirting with each other and he just chuckled and said "Yea." So I leaned in and kissed him.

We have been inseparable ever since.

I met him while waiting in line for an omelet at the company cafeteria. We were both going to the same training class that day. I sat next to him in class because he was the only person I even remotely knew.

About 4 months later, I found myself sitting across from her while lunching al fresco with some other friends. At that point we started to connect. About a month after that, we went out on our first date and have been together ever since.

This all happened in 1981, on the Northside of Chicago.

This blonde angel sits with a saxophone. I am certain she is the girl in the dream I had in sixth grade, in which she and I fall in love and stay together forever.

Fastforward 4 years, we go out once in HS--a perfect fit. But I've just ended a terrible long-term thing and am in my "whoremongering" period, and she's too nice and decent. I asked to be friends and she stops speaking to me. I screw everything else in sight.

3(?) years later, she is out of nursing school jumps out of car and hugs me/speaks to me for first time since HS. We start dating. I am reluctant to commit at first, then realize that, despite my young age, I don't want to lose her. We marry in 1984.

Fastforward 20 years. Our soon-to-be-4-year-old is the center of the world. We remain faithful, committed, and sickeningly,valentiny in love.

I dated her one of her friends. I was from the the "other" Jr High. 3 years later we dated for 4, almost 5 years. Broke it off when I was too immature to make a commitment. Both married others, both divorced. "Met" again on internet. I moved across the country and the rest is, as they say, bliss.

54. here's a few facts

Her name on here is KadeCarrion, and unlike SOME DU pairings, our relationship is fully healthy and functional. So no drama, no manipulations, sickness, crying, or anything that could get an interesting thread going. We just refuse to entertain the DU masses with our mutually satisfying relationship.

As for as the story - just chemistry at work. A few PM's, an eventual meeting, and it grew naturally from there.

We have been living together since last summer and have a great time.

15. Elephant Room

It's a nice jazz club in Austin. And no elephants were harmed in the construction of the bar. The reason it's called the Elephant Room is because they found mastodon bones when they were digging it out. It's sort of a basement bar. Top (ceiling) half is above street level and the rest is underground.

Anyway it's a funny story. I went out with a girlfriend and she's really attractive and always got those second looks. A couple of nice looking guys come in and one of them sits right next to her in our booth, after one of those double takes. He smiles at her and says hi. The first thing my friend says to him is "So when did they let you out of jail?" I thought she knew him but she didn't. They hit it right off. The other man had walked up to the front to get a closer look at the band. When we left that evening I never even met my SO. My girlfriend and her jailbird started seeing each other. He was only in town for a week visiting from Canada. She was leaving for vacation the following week so it was just a spring fling for them. Nice and sweet.

He wasn't a jailbird that's just what I'm calling him for this story. He was actually taking a break from graduate school. Anyway we did a lot of things together as a threesome because my friend just wanted me to hang out with them too. We did things during the day like having lunch and going to art galleries. Unknown to me, the jailbird was busy selling me to his buddy. When my girlfriend was leaving for vacation she made us (jailbird and I) promise to check out this Russian jazz band that was coming into town. Well jailbird brought his buddy and the three of us had a great time together and then when jailbird left town, my SO and I kept seeing each other. The rest as they say is history. It's been over 12 years of a lovely and crazy life. We have lots of freak friends and are both good Dems. Life is good.

and she walked by, quite drunk (it was her birthday and she had been out celebrating).

This was the day before winter/spring break, and she gave me her room number about 500 times.

Three weeks later, after spring quarter started (and I'd come back to OH from CT), I called her up, and we went out. An hour into the "date" she turned and asked me, in all seriousness - "who are you?"

It seems she had no recollection of meeting me, and when I called she thought she was going out with someone else she knew with the same first name.

When I moved into the house I live in I wasn't sure how long I'd be staying so I bought a used refrigerator from a local appliance store.

I noticed after a week the refrigerator side was only coolish and not cold so I called the store since there was a 90 day warranty on the fridge. The repairman came out and changed the thermostat. He was very thorough in his explanation of what was wrong and even showed me where the thermostat was in the refrigerator. If he'd gotten any closer while showing me, we would have been having sex in the refrigerator.

As he was leaving he asked me if I like chinese food and I said I did. I had to wait 3 months for him to come by and take me out for chinese.

It was worth the wait since we're now engaged and have been together for 2 years.
