Damn, does customer service suck these days
One hotel i sometimes stay at in LA, a former guest services manager use to give me a one room upgrade and 6pm checkout at no charge....Since she left, the new person preaches about how they need to increase room revenue and can't give room upgrades or late check-outs...Keep in mind, typically i'm in LA when occupancy is low, i'm never in LA over Oscars, Grammies, NY's Eve, etc...I would never expect an upgrade/late check-out on busy nights, but is it really too much to ask when your a REGULAR guest at a hotel and occupancy is about 50%...:banghead:

another time i had cereal and OJ in the hotel restuarant, it was about $12...I get hotel breakfasts are expensive, but the cereal portion wasn't even equivalent of a child's portion...I submitted a comment card tactfully saying the portions should be more plentiful, that's all...Thought they'd just refund the breakfast and say thanks for your feedback....They just blew it off completely, nevre heard from anyone....

A restaurant nearby i've been going to over a decade, see the same people every time..You never get a nice greeting or a welcome back, it's just blank stares from people who look pissed off at being there....

I don't know, just seems like today, good custmer service/customer appreciation has gone the way of the do-do bird - to extinction...

1. There are exceptions - they're the ones that get my repeat business.

2. Because their employers are treating them like crap.
Big mistake if they want said employees to treat their customers right.

3. Sounds like it might be a west coast thing?
While that happens here in OK, we get recognized at our usual haunts and get free extra shots at starbucks and occasionally one of our coffees are free. It's great.
