4. I bought and for some years lived in a 33' motorhome.
.
.
.
I guess that would make the area about 250 sq ft.
.
.
.
WAY more than enough room for me (though storage was always a problem).
.
.
.
I knew I could live in a small space (for a year or two in college, I lived
DEEP in the woods in about a 10-12 ft. travel trailer).
.
.
.
But this'll give you an idea of how spoiled my cat, NoName was. I worried
about whether it would be big enough for HER.
.
.
.
She was fine... and even found some secret hiding spaces.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Not mine, but the same year and model -- it's the ONLY thing I've ever bought
off of eBay (got a FANTASTIC deal).
.

.
.

You realize that thing would fit inside your boat there.

12. I live with my husband in a house he built
when he was sure he was never going to marry again. He even vowed to his sister that it would never, ever happen again.

It's only 869 sq. ft with the kitchen and living room in the same space, the bathroom and laundry in the same space, and our bedroom is in a loft. Only one closet.

When I moved here, I had been living with just my two cats in a three bedroom condo with a full basement. We now live in this very tiny house together with three cats, and one large dog that likes to come in for the night (the other one stays outside at all costs. LOL)

When I'm at home, I read or bead, sleep and eat. I don't do a whole lot of moving around unless I go outside. And I'm a horrible housekeeper because I hate doing it with a passion.

Yep, if it were just me, I could live in that tiny house with no problem. I mean what more does one person need, really?

But, yeah...it was funny to see our opposing answers back to back.

you don't have a ton of clothes so a laundromat would work out just fine. :hi:

15. I've lived in a tent, and in a VW van, suburbia, and an apt. So, yes if it was just me
and a couple of pets, that little house would be fine. Now raising 3 grandkids and bought my own 1480 sq. ft. home which is just right for us.

16. A square boat
I've lived in smaller spaces on sailboats.

When people mention small houses, I'm reminded of this one in Alexandria, Va. My aunt did a watercolor of it in the fifties and it hung in our house for many years. I always liked it, and thought I could live in it quit nicely. I finally got to see the house in 1980.

30. Yeah, a gambrel roof would make that loft much less claustrophobic
and it would reduce the head bumps. :D

I could live in that tiny house because it's so well planned.

20. No. Fucking. Way.
That trailer is smaller than the sleeper on an over-the-road truck. Those are ALREADY too cramped, and I wasn't trying to put everything I owned in it.

21. My husband really wants to move into one of these when I
retire in 5 years. I don't want to in the least. I've got a daughter who will only be 13 and there is no real room for her. More to the point, there is no room for my books. He wants the "family room" for his HO train set up. Like bloody hell. Still, if I were single it would be fine.

He makes a good point there. (Oh, and the one about the environment.)

I'd definitely go for a cabin that small.

27. That's spacious compared to a place I lived for 6 months.
I lived on a boat/houseboat that was 21 feet long (on the outside, not the inside), about 4-5 feet wide at the widest part inside, obviously skinnier at the ends. You could only stand in the center aisle and not quite all the way straight. I slept on a bench along one side that had storage in it. I could sit up top outside but you can't sleep or store things there, it wasn't a fancy loft area like he has - it was more like just going outside.

in case something goes horridly wrong.

29. Not a chance. I don't want to have to climb a ladder to go to bed.
Plus, with two kids, two dogs, three cats, and tons of books, it's simply not an option. But in a few years, when my kids and the critters are grown and gone, I could see moving into something like this. I think it's pretty cute - it's only 567 sq. ft., and it would be all that I'd need.

that little window needs to be bigger, otherwise, he really does make good use of every inch of space.
