Will someone please explain "never let me go"? SPOILERS
I absolutely did not understand that movie. It just didn't seem plausible on so many different levels.

Only secondary did I ask myself, why were they so sure their parents were drug addicts and prostitutes? Was it because their Originals gave away the rights to their cloning cells? Or was that just a cover story for the kids and they were actually clones of the people that were receiving their organs?

And why couldn't the pictures prove they had a soul? You mean to tell me in this crazy world where Christians are behind every tree and bush they couldn't find one to break into that clone school?

1. The movie puzzled me, too....

I think that the book must have been written in
such a manner that you found out, bit by bit, what
was in store for the kids...

Personally, I think that Keira Knightly ruins
every movie she's in with her crazy over-acting.

2. FABULOUS book

It's a sort of a future-history dystopia, I think. I read it as "This is what could happen if we follow the science of cloning to one of its logical outcomes." The absolutely chilling thing about the book is the way in which the children were inculcated with their "specialness" and the "specialness of their life's purpose" from the very beginning. :scared:

On edit: I didn't see the film, so my comments apply specifically to the book. I highly recommend reading it. It's wonderful.

3. The time period was completely wrong for a future-history dystopia.
They used a current time period. And if they were going to use current time periods, then they would have had to explain how it was that these kids grew up without any contact with the outside world and all the crazy things that were happening in the seventies, eighties nineties etc.

Just the 1960's Civil rights movement would have had some influence.

They would have done better to use a real futuristic time period.
