1. I'd give you one, but . . .
. . . no one's getting them from me this time, alas.

Will you settle for   ?

2. Hugs are always good
My thread was intended to complement MiddleFingerMom, that posting maniac.

I can't indulge in the heart thing either, especially after this uninsured cancer survivor ponied up some serious hard cash for a CAT scan, blood work, and doctor appointment. Good news: the doctor said I'm a lucky man and cut me loose for a whole year. The bad news: The radiologists bill is still out there homing in on me. Good news: We're baking a Union Hotel Mud cake. Bad News: My son will undoubtedly eat your serving, mumbling, "it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission".

4. I think that's the word
Five years ago, after ass kicking surgery on stomach, liver, and colon, then mind warping chemo therapy, my future looked horribly bleak according to my doctor. Five, eight, twelve percent chance of living five years, he told me, so I decided then and there I was going to make him a liar. It was a hard slog at the beginning, what with a dark cloud of uncertainty hanging around, and all. A hard slog.

That was then, and this is now. Life is good. I'm free for a whole year to live it fully, so as our esteemed colleague, The Magistrate, would say, "Let's go get those bastards".

Woo hoo!

8. You humble me
Thank you. My problems seem rather trivial in comparison.

7. Such wonderful news about your cancer. A star is what you should
be pimping for, if you are going down that road. Best of luck in the future, but it is looking good now.
