a strange thing that a cousin just posted on Facebook
This cousin is a lovely woman, about 15 years older than me, the daughter of my grandmother's sister. We've never met but have corresponded.

Here is what she posted:

"study revealed that those with gingivitis and periodontitis have a mortality rate that's 23 to 46 percent higher than those without the gum diseases. Taking care of your mouth, it seems, really can lengthen your life."

That's it. No prelude, no link -- and no comments.

Hmm.

1. I have friends who do that, too...
One today said: "I should have called a time out."

Um....yeah, sure.

2. My dear Bertha...
Sounds like she's one of those people who cut to the chase without preamble...

But I think she's right. Serious untreated gum disease can cause infection in your heart. I have heard this elsewhere...

:hi:

3. I would also
say there is some correlation without causation. Poor mouth care and poor rest of body care probably goes together.

4. Yes- people with gingivitis have WAY more heart attacks, in every age range.
The connection isn't well understood,
but it's well established.
