My early-morning trip to the vet. (Dial-up warning!)
First, the world doesn't exist at 5:55 a. m. which was the time I had to get up to mentally and physically able to go to the vet with Ginger for his teeth-cleaning and with two cats from my mom. At 7:30 a. m. And the world doesn't even exist then. Sunrises, really not this spectacular, it's just like it gets brighter and people are coming outside.

So here it goes:

Down the hill, lots of curves, orchestrated protesting meows from the backseat. I felt like a cat-Mubarak. At 7:30 a. m.

Yeah, I guess it's a sunrise that throws some orange light on clouds. Big deal. You should see the sunsets here. SPECTACULAR!

People driving on coffee in their cars. That can't be healthy.

This is the airport. Pilots know that there's no flying at such early times. They need their sleep and rightly so. Would you fly on a plane with a pilot just tanked on caffeine with the sunrise right in his face? I won't.

Hello, mall! Do you sell coffee?

Great. Why is this even on at this time? Don't you know we have cats on the backseat. Better be green in no time!

HEINEKEN! HEINEKEN! Breakfast of the champions and I'm sure, our cats wouldn't hate me as much as they already did ...

Hello harbor. You're ships are still asleep, aren't they? Good. The red lights seem to be really on a morning craze, though.

At this point, the cats wished to be in Cairo, throwing stuff at me. That place is hell!

WE HATE YOU! YOU COULD HAVE SLEPT MORE AND LEFT US ALONE!

I'm tired now.

1. My dear Call Me Wesley!
Aw, you did take some pictures!

And they are wonderful...

It's always fun to see where other friends live...

Your part of the world looks just beautiful!

I hope that the kitties have all recovered, and forgiven you...

Thank you for these wonderful pictures!

5. It's pretty bland now.
Nothing really green yet. Kitties are in full recovery mode and don't seem to hold me accountable for it. ;)

7. I have more of them, but I really like these ones.
Taken with the iPhone through the windshield with the Hipstamatic app, so it didn't really matter if they came out blurry. Here's an unedited one (was still dark) pic of them in the vet's office:

24. They look pissed - and you are naive.
"They don't hold you accountable"
Yeah, right!
Those cats know they were not teleported to the vets.
They understand completely that YOU were the responsible party for their inconvenience.
"They don't hold you accountable"
NOT YET THEY DON'T.
But, they will.

30. Of course they were not happy. ;)
I just can't show up with a cat taxi for another year, they know it and hate it.

And Ginger really cuddled with his mom rather than me the last night.

41. where are the pix/drawings of you getting the cats into
the carriers? (3 cats, no less!) That was always a crazy op when we had cats. They HATED going in the carriers, even if they were only going to the groomers.

43. Two cats are my mom's.
I had the carrier ready outside and Ginger was inside. Then he hears the other cats and ran to the door, wanting out. I just took him and put him in the carrier by surprise. He was not happy.

Usually, if we have to take all four cats, one always escapes.

8. Palmetto trees.
This is the Mediterranean section of Switzerland, next to Italy. You can see some of the alps in the pics, but not all Switzerland is a permanent ski ressort. ;) Although there is skiing here, too. If there's snow.

17. I suspected the Italian side when I saw
"Studio Veterinario". That's not very 'Swiss' sounding ;)

Lots of VW vans around though...

20. It's the 'Veteran's office.' ;)
Nah ... What do you mean not very 'Swiss' sounding? We have four official languages, so yes, that's very Swiss. Also Italian. But very Swiss, too! Like French!

The VW vans come from the Swiss German part I think. One's a school bus, the other one some delivery thingie. :)

25. I thought it was five languages?
Nonetheless, that's then the Italian-Swiss language, as I thought ;) Or is it Swiss-Italian? New-used or used-new? :P

VW pretty much has the market over there for utility vans. I don't know how many times I've seen them in whatever news event as delivery vans, ambulances and so forth. Here, you hardly see them at all, like it takes a special order to buy one or something...

We had one in the 80s, and it was great to drive. Nice turning radius, easy to work on, typical VW :)

32. Most people also speak English,
but it hasn't made it as an official language yet. See language choice here: http://www.admin.ch/

Police uses VW too.

Note that 'Police' is actually written in English there.

But mostly BMW or even Mercedes. Classy! ;)

We have aeroplanes here! Things that are heavier than air floating in it like a miracle! And check out this urban scene, with automobiles and streets (is taht an open cabrio behind the big white van? Must be a tourist):

;) And yes, I wasn't that bad daddy after all. Ginger still likes me.

I kind of announced it here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=9612845&mesg_id=9612870
It was just their yearly teeth cleaning, and I managed to set it on a new moon day, which happened when Heidi was away.

So I got the head bangs last night every hour: "Where's the food? Why don't I have food? You know I need food, do you?"

And they're all fine now. Ginger's already eaten and roaming around. :)

I've taken two cats at once to the vet and it's a four-mile drive that seems like it took hours. Constant, constant caterwauling and I always note what I think is the half-way point, when turning around and going back home would be pointless. You are very brave.
