Back when I smoked, I would run into this on a fairly regular basis, although
I really never encountered them except late at night while drinking heavily.
.
.
.
And it was a great joy to watch someone ELSE about to encounter one..

3. Never saw one of those ... but
I watched my then 16 year old brother take out a filtered smoke as he started to tell our parents his girlfriend was knocked up.
He put the tobacco end in his mouth , lit it, took a big drag and got nothing. Pulled it out of his mouth, looked at it and stuck it back in and did it again.
Idiot little brother (me) was on the floor laughing. Wrong thing to do at a time like that.

11. Well - it was nearly 50 years ago - so eventually
But not at first. Her parents cut any access he had. She had the baby. As far as I know he has never seen the child.
No one ever speaks about it

5. Wonder if your parents were shocked to discover that your brother smoked?

6. If I saw something like that...
I would either laugh or cry. Depending on if it was my last cigarette or not.

7. BTW folks... I was just kidding about actually SEEING this.
.
.
.
When one was drinking (notice the separation from the "self" there?) AND smoking
like a chimney, one would not necessarily pay attention to which end of the cigarette
was poked into one's piehole.
.
.
.
NASTY taste. ALWAYS looked around quickly to see if anyone had noticed and, of
course... someone always did.
.
.
.
That person over there rolling around on the floor.

9. HaHa I remember those days.
I used to smoke on cig after another back in my drinking days and at some point, if the foolishness went on long enough, I'd eventually light the filter end. That should've been a good sign that it was time to go to bed, but NOooo.

I cringe to think of what my poor lungs went through back then. x(

12. Back in the days when everyone smoked....
and my husband was a struggling young architect, he offered to light the cigarette of one of the most famous and successful (although not necessarily talented) architects in the bidness.
Hubby found him a bit arrogant. So when the Big Star proceeded to light his filter, my husband said nothing. And then offered hypocritical comfort when Big Star hacked and coughed. A blissful moment of nyah nyah which he probably won't admit to today, being older, wiser, and (sometimes a bit too) saintly.
