1. My cats do that too!
When their food bowls are empty, they put on the "We're starving" act. :-)

2. I think they practice the pathetic look in the mirror.
Mine is clearly not starving, but you wouldn't know it by the way he sits in front of his bowl with those big sad eyes.

It's entertainingly pathetic.

6. He's like the prison, rattling his metal cup across the bars and yowling.
Yeah, my cat, who always looks like her eyes are half-closed, gets totally wide-eyed and sucks in her cheeks if she thinks you're gonna feed her. And it's not just a feline trait: my friend's dog does the same thing!

9. I have two cats. One plays with her food for hours. The other
will sit in front of plates with food on them looking at me for hours.
He wants more variety.

10. That reminds me of my now-deceased first kitty.
She would dip her paw into my mug to get out the last drops of milk or melted ice cream from the bottom and lick it off. She did love her dairy products.

11. Mine arches her back, scrunches up her spine, fluffs out,
shimmies her tail, and meows pitifully. The plump fluffy thing!

12. I don't think he looks overweight, but
he's not a starving cat. My cat gets all weird about food too whenever he knows I am getting ready for work, long before it's time to leave, he's like all by his food bowl, mowing little reminders to me not to forget to feed the cat. (he also gets fed the moment i wake up, it's a power struggle whether the cat food bowl gets filled before the coffee gets put on to brew.)

That clinking the bowl thing is just too cute.

Cats DO want what they want when they want it!
