Are they putting a new kind of wax on apples these days?
I just bought a batch of Fuji apples, that came from Washington State. There's a kind of sticky wax that's been applied to them that I've never seen before.

I'm used to some kind of wax on them - I imagine it keeps them fresh longer, but this stuff is crazy. It won't come off or even get less sticky after washing with dish detergent, and it actually makes your hand sticky. Like when I used to put Dubbin on the leather palms of my hockey gloves.

1. The last apples I bought were from Adams County, PA and they weren't waxed.
I can't stand wax on any kind of fruit. You can tell to look at them.

3. I've wondered about that myself however pls don't use detergent to clean
fruit and veggies - lots of articles regarding that online. I sprinkle lots of baking soda on damp apple and rub then rinse.

4. I bought organic apples and they had it, too
I washed them and I noticed that they felt really waxy. I peeled them for my son because I didn't know what they used.

5. That doesn't sound good.
If it were me and my local store I'd talk to the produce manager. They are usually pretty nice and generally welcome interaction with customers because it gives them a chance to share their knowledge.
