Animal Shelter Overreacts; Euthanizes 23 Healthy Cats and Kittens
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/26489399/detail.html

This happened where I live about 30 miles southwest of Denver. Three cats had ringworm and Intermountain Humane Society (IMHS) euthanized ALL the cats. Some had already been adopted and were waiting for spay/neutering. The vet interviewed, Dr. Jeff, is our vet. He's a little pissed.

1. Wow...
That's awful. I can't even imagine why they'd make that decision.

2. Because killing is easier than caring. (n/t)

3. From what I've read, it's not even deadly.
They really overreacted. Why not just close the facility down for a few days and treat the animals? Geez.

5. Cats are low on the totem pole.
Can you imagine a shelter euthanizing 23 dogs? For ringworm? Sheesh!

6. I hate how dogs get way more help than cats.
I like to give to cat-specific charities to try to even things out, but it's a drop in the bucket.
Of course ideally all animals would get all the help they need, but that's a dream that's far, far off. :(
