Woman injects cooking oil into her face (plastic surgery addict)
I was doing random links on the internets this past weekend and found this interesting story. What's sad is if you see the before photo - she is a beautiful woman but sadly addicted to plastic surgery.

Cosmetic surgery addict injected cooking oil into her own face
A Korean woman addicted to plastic surgery has been left unrecognisable after her obsession led her to inject cooking oil into her face.

Hang Mioku, now 48, had her first plastic surgery procedure when she was 28; hooked from the beginning she moved to Japan where she had further operations - mostly to her face.

Following operation after operation, her face was eventually left enlarged and disfigured, but she would still look at herself in the mirror and think she was beautiful.

Eventually the surgeons she visited refused to carry out any more work on her and one suggested that her obsession could be a sign of a psychological disorder.

<<<<snip>>>>

Amazingly, she found a doctor who was willing to give her silicone injects and, what's more, he then gave her a syringe and silicone of her own so she could self-inject.

When her supply of silicone ran out Hang resorted to injecting cooking oil into her face.

7. Sounds like Body Dysmorphic Disorder to me.
I've known people with it; it's really terrible to have.

2. Not only was this MD still using silicone for injections...
But he then gave her some to take home? Guy shouldn't have a license.

3. My best bet, is she is having an immune reaction.
Well, I can't think of anything else, but that is why her face is so swollen.

5. Series LynneSin?
I read that her face had become distorted, but really; you think she injected that much oil into her face? The syringes are generally 5cc or so, that means she would have had to stick herself about 10 times in each area. Whether that is true, she would still have an immune response and that means swelling.

The frying a chicken part was very clever.
I had to think about the injecting part. Looks like she actually put some in her nose! WTF?

8. Demonstrating once again
That there is nothing in the realm of human endeavor that won't be abused by someone. When the subject of legalizing all drugs comes up, I know deep in my bones that such a proposal would inevitably kill millions in the most horrible ways imaginable. I know there's a strong libertarian streak in this country ("It's my (fill in the blank) , I'll do what I want with it!"), but the problem is that there's very little, really, that's yours and yours alone. Someone somewhere loves or loved Ms. Mioku, and now they see her in this pitiable state. But it was her face! Her choice! Looking at that photo of her, that seems like a pretty pathetic assertion. I'd feel much the same way standing over the coffin of another young person who could ingest/inject/smoke all the narcotics he or she could lay hold of.

9. But don't you think that those who will abuse drugs will do so regardless of legalities?
The only difference if we legalize drugs is we save that billions each year that we spend on phony 'drug wars' that lead to no break in the abuse of drugs in the USA. Instead that money could be put towards prevention and rehabilitation.

15. Those doctors who continued to operate on her should lose their licenses
I don't care if she had the money and insisted she wanted the service. They're still doctors and they still took an oath to do no harm. This seems like a pretty obvious example of doing harm.
