Frisian is the language most closely related to English. The farmer gets a kick out of it!

1. After a couple of days with my Dutch in laws, I was pretty much speaking and understanding Dutch
I figured at that time, of all the Germanic languages, Dutch was the closest to English

4. A friend of mine was married to a Dutch woman.
He always said that Dutch was like English, except that you mumble and spit a lot.

5. I love his style of comedy.
I enjoy that he mixes a bit of language, multiculturism and history in his style.

Honestly, he makes a great dramatic actor as well. He was quite good in his small role in Valkyrie.

6. Used to spend quite a bit of time in Hilversum Holland...
(Royal Dutch Radio)and was always amazed at how many of the signs I could understand despite not knowing any Dutch. Much easier than German to understand.
