1. Wasn't Brazil
A major "haven" for the Nazi's twenty years earlier and the recipient of their treasury after WW II?

2. I think so and I recall my uncle bring an ex German to our home.
He was from Brazil and we all wondered after if he was a Nazi and sort of shocked my uncle had him at our house. Then my Dad loved meeting very odd people. He worked for Remington Rand and doing some training in this country. Had to be early 50's as that was when I was in high school.I think they worked on UNIVAC

5. Argentina was the worst...
Adolf Eichmann, e.g. (and probably Martin Bormann), along with many, many less notable Nazis, found a safe haven there for years. Eichmann, of course, was eventually snatched by Israeli agents and brought to justice at the end of a hangman's rope, along with some others, but Argentina remained the hideout of choice.

Not sure about Brazil in comparison, but since it's a huge country (bigger than the US, as I was shocked to learn in fifth grade) with plenty of open space, no doubt it was a popular choice as well.

3. Everyone on DU should read these links!
Thank you JCCyC. :hi: I, and, imo, most Americans know so little outside of our borders.
