Am I the only one here
Who despises Christmas music?

I guess too many years listening to it nonstop from Halloween to New Year's (working in retail) ruined it for me.

1. Nope.
After years or working as a barista at Starbucks, the only Christmas album I like is Vince Guaraldi Trio's A Charlie Brown Christmas...Linus and Lucy is one of my favorite modern musical composition pieces.

Beyond that, Christmas music sets my teeth on edge.

8. That's pretty much the only album I like, too.
There are a few novelty songs I like, such as the MacKenzie Brothers' silly version of the "Twelve Days of Xmas."

Christmas, in general, sets my teeth on edge.

Mannheim Steamroller that peps things up a bit...or a return to 16th, 17th and 18th early music consorts doing the music.

Both of these ideas are worth more than the ordinary and much-repeated tin pan alley stuff.

17. All the songs annoy me except "I'll be home for Christmas".
It's probably because I'm Jewish. I just turn off the radio or mute the tv when the commercials go on.

What's nice is I always work on Christmas and Christmas eve. But, I always get Yom Kippur and Channukah off.

25. FANTASTIC album covers from the 50's in that video...
.
.
.
...and I think MiddleFingerMomDad, whose album "collection" consisted
mainly of Jackie Gleason orchestral "romantic" numbers (Gleason, it's
not widely known, put out dozens, if not scores of them), actually had
that "Limbo Party" one.
.
I seem to remember that cover as early "porn" for me. Damn kids today
are spoiled by all that Intertubes porn... we had to rely on pictures of
fully-dressed beehive hair-do'd women dancing under Limbo sticks, but
we LIKED it like that.

23. Not at all! I am against it--I never used to be, but I am
very much against it lately, because my spouse is in retail, and it has really come home to me that the repetition of sappy Christmas crap is demoralizing for retail workers. It's so bad that we cringe when Christmas music is playing in restaurants where we're eating. The Christmas music genuinely did start Nov 1 where he works--usually they don't really do that whole hog until after Thanksgiving.

Anyway, even though I am partially inured to Xmas music because I was a glee club/choir person for a long time, which totally had me listening to Christmas songs well before Thanksgiving--I feel for retail people who are prisoners of seasonal Musak Hell.

(The above is a thing I did about this issue last year.)

27. I used to have a weekly one-hour comedy/novelty music show on our local community radio station...
.
.
.
.
.
...a la Dr Demento -- and Christmas was my FAVORITE time of year
for it, as there is so much good material out there.
.
.
.
I easily avoided cliched material like barking dogs and chipmunk trios
and such -- and started EARLY ending up with a whole MONTH of
Christmas shows... and still feeling that there wasn't enough time
to do all that I wanted to do (whereas for Thanksgiving, I had to
struggle to fill an hour -- even with the 16-minute or so version
of "Alice's Restaurant").
.
.
.
I remember that perhaps my favorite piece was about a 7-minute or
so rendition of "The Nutcracker Suite" by The Turtle Island String
Quartet -- an incredibly diverse and FUNNY piece.
.
.
.
Lots of Dr Demento and Bob Rivers' material.
.
.
.
There's a LOT of good NEW stuff out there -- it's just hard to find.

33. I am with you on that
I will turn the radio to anything that doesn't have Christmas music on. I am just burned out.
Maybe when it gets closer to Christmas I will tune it in, but not just yet.

I am thinking it is the "retail overload" that burns us out. I was fine before that.

34. I love Trans Siberian Orchestra
My son & I have gone to their concert the last 3 years -- it's kinda become *our* special thing (his sister has NO interest in going -- she & I have our own special things). We can't go this year -- he just started at his first (Air Force) duty station in Idaho, and won't be able to make it home this year. Made me sad when I heard an ad for the concert on the radio last week. :(

35. I like Celtic Christmas music
always play it during the holidays. Some other stuff too, depends on my mood and how it's played, I like harp, acoustic guitar, gentle music. Which doesn't suit for most modern Christmas music.

So, yeah, I like Christmas music, but only on MY terms.

I don't make terms, nor give into any terms, then again I don't demand surrender, nor do I surrender, so there is no reason for 'deals' or stuff like that.

Happens when you don't live to fight.

Someone can enact their terms, or do what makes sense, either way, I still get to choose what I think is better.

Or my terms would be not having a concept of terms. :D Many people pretend like they want you to join them, when they really want you to be their slave for their ends, far better to serve anyone that you can find that might need something you can give.

And I think most music is Christmas music, but that might just be the way I see it.
