However, I fearlessly predict that whatever celebration is staged for Mr. Boehner's ascension, there won't be a peep about it in the popular media. As compared to Nancy Pelosi, whose every move was scrutinized, and for whom there were all kinds of stories concocted about how she was going to fly first class in her own jet provided at taxpayer expense, and on and on and on. Whatever little perks Boehner gets for himself will just be the standard trappings of office, and nobody should bat an eye or count the expense or anything, because that's just what America does for its leaders. And Boehner doesn't get a pass just because he's a man or because he's a Republican. It's really a combination of the two.
