Tell me about Twitter. Do you have a Twitter account?
Do you like it?

Did you put your real name on the account?

1. I have one
Mainly to keep track of a few RPG writers, as well as voice a few opinions on RPG issues. I have no followers, so this is likely an exercise in futility.

I do not have my real name on my account, preferring to use an alias for privacy concerns.

2. Thanks
Yeah, I don't want to put my real name on their either. There are some people from my past I don't care to hear from (some from the present, too!).

3. Have it. Follow a bunch of writers, comedians, and indie musicians
Plus, my small social circle and I all communicate on there.

9. Sorry, Haole. I just love that line.
I have text messaging shut off for all of our phones. We have no need for it and we kept getting charged like $.20 for each message our kids received from friends even if they didn't read them. I told T-Mobile to shut it the hell off and they did.

8. I use it professionally.
Edited on Sun Nov-21-10 01:04 PM by Chan790
In addition to my day-job (which I'm leaving sometime after Jan. 1) I also work as a writer and am in the process of starting a PR/Comm. firm for NPOs and issue campaigns. I use it professionally for the last two and especially the latter as tweet/Facebook management is about 40% of what I do for clients. It's a showpiece of my work. I actually kind of hate it but I'm hooked unless I want to be a banker forever. (I don't.)

I use my professional name, which is close enough to both my colloquial name and my legal given name that functionally I'm using my (edit: real) name. I would advise any client not in a position where they have to (ie. someone running for office or someone in a public field, ie. authors and actors), to not use theirs.

14. nawh, just can't see the reason for it. The whole internet experience is
giving me second thoughts, actually. Seems, I spending less and less time at the computer and when I do it is more for a one-to-one type of interaction. DU seems to be enough mass communication to fill the void for me.

Also, I am finding it weird the way my personal information may/can be owned by another entity. I find that to be somewhat unsettling.

I don't read Twitter, except I did read some of that Shit My Dad Says. It was good for a few laughs.

Anyway, I just no to Twitter.

:) :hi:

13. I don't use it - I have yet to figure out a way in which it would benefit me
I suspect I'd probably use my real name since I'd have to tell everyone who matters what my nickname was anyway, and the only potentially useful applications I can come up for me with are in the work sphere...

16. I have two.
One for personal use (which I never use), and one for work (which I use a lot).

My real name is on my work one.

I don't really like it.
A lot of the same stories and links are posted. I tend to find it annoying.

17. Honestly?
I do have one and I do use my real name along with my freelance writing business name. But I have found Twitter to be a colossal waste of time and I have pretty much given it up--both tweeting and reading tweets. I think I haven't posted since the end of September, and it's no big loss. I do drop in from time to time because Steve Martin's tweets make me LOL (@SteveMartinToGo). But really, Twitter is just one humongous PR tool ("come to my booksigning", "I will be on this TV show on Monday", "watch my new webisode", etc.) Just IMO, I hope it goes the way of the dodo soon. Truly, most of the time it bores me senseless.

18. I have a twitter account and it can be a waste of time.
I use it for entertainment purposes only (commenting on TV shows I watch), tweeting with other people who are interested in the same TV shows. It can be fun, but it can be a colossal waste of time.

Most people seem to tweet useless crap about what they're doing.

With me being an introvert, I'm pretty sure I'll tire of this tweeting soon.

signed up because I thought I might be able to receive info about my radio station that would be pertinent, but like most public outreach they do that doesn't generate income right away I think they quit playing with it. Not sure but I certainly didn't see any point to it.

I know in some situations it was a force for good (Iran elections/protests - other events in Asia and around the world) but yeah, in general? worse than face book
