Creatre a music favorites list of your choice
It can have anything to do with music - instruments, songs, artists, genres, etc. Your list can have any amount of items on it that you want.

I'm going to do a straight favorite artists list.

Virtually unlistenable.

2. What happened to him?
Edited on Sat Nov-20-10 04:31 PM by mvd
It just sounded like fussy electronics to me, with little melody. It was like he was trying to do his own Kid A, but it didn't work.

Remembered Annie Lennox/Eurythmics - can go on my list. Radiohead is close, too. Can't try to remember all.

3. Sounds like he's been listening to Bjork
From about 10 years ago when she was recording with Tricky. Thank heavens I didn't pay for it. I'd be supremely pissed. A couple years ago he offered a whole bunch of Christmas tunes on his website for free. I downloaded them all and now I see he's charging for them. MAYBE IT WAS PRESSURE FROM HIS LABEL. ANYWAY, I GENERALLY CAN'T STAND CHRISTMAS MUSIC, BUT THIS I can listen to.

4. I actually did pay for it, unfortunately
I liked the album Illinois so much that I bought it automatically. I'm not a Bjork fan, but IMO much of her stuff is more listenable than The Age Of Adz.

We'll have to PM some new discoveries to each other again. Have a good holiday. :hi:

6. I only listen to music that nobody's heard of.
If any one has, in fact, heard of someone I listen to, that artist is thereafter dead to me.

That is why I don't divulge any names that are on my play list.

But, you can rest assured that everything I listen to is the most creative, blissful, soul changing artistry ever to spring from the soul of man. Most of it sounds like angels fucking.

By the time the Village Voice gets around to "discovering" new, obscure music, it is as hackneyed to me as Kenny G or Katy Perry.

Yes, I am so hip I call my girlfriend "man".

7. Well, to each his own. I think music is about as subjective as it gets
As you can see, I love pop, but also like a wide range of stuff. Plus, lists are fun to make.

9. I like off beat music
Not because I'm a snob, but because most mainstream music is crap. I spend way too much time looking for good music. Hey, check out my blog and you'll see what i mean: http://marksmusicmemo.blogspot.com

10. I have to disagree there, bif

The mainstream has both good and bad. It comes down to personal taste. We agree on some of those off-beat artists and often like the same stuff. It's ok to disagree on the mainstream.

12. Noticed I even left some genres out
For example, really like Enya, Kate Rusby, and Loreena McKennitt in New Age/Celtic.

14. OK, I guess no rap artist would be a favorite
But, Kanye West and Eminem sure are good for that genre.

13. My favorite genres
Most of what I play on the piano, and most of what I listen to, falls into one of these categories:

1. classical

2. jazz

Both are now respectable, i. e., they are taught in music departments at many schools. When I was in college (50 years ago), only classical music was respectable. (I mean classical as opposed to rock, country, etc., not classical as opposed to baroque, romantic etc.)

17. Here's some of mine.
Gothic Metal -- Beseech, Sirenia, Nightwish, Leave's Eyes, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Within Temptation

Progressive Metal -- Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation. When they get to 32nd notes and too much syncopation or no real rhythm, I get bored, but I still like this genre.

Space rock -- Pink Floyd, Aryeon, Alan Parsons Project, Oceansize
