something else I brought back from Mexico
finally finished the open bar of ivory and opened one of my 3 giant bars of Rosa Venus! Good soap that just smells like SOAP (it has some artificial stench, but it just smells like SOAP should smell like, to me)

1. I'll have to see if that's in the Mexican markets around here.

Lately I've been thinking shampoo is too damn perfumey. I liked the old green Clairol herbal essence shampoo because it smelled green - fresh, instead of heavy perfume scent...

Aha! It turns out other people want it to be brought back and someone started a petition-

2. That has been my FAVORITE shampoo ever...
.

.
.
.
...and I looked for it for a LONG time before I realized that
they had stopped making it. The fragrance AND the way it
cleaned my hair were both great.
.
.
.
Never did understand it as I think it was a big seller.

3. oh yeah, I used to love the smell of that
Edited on Thu Nov-18-10 11:31 AM by Kali
now I just use suave daily cleanser - it doesn't stink too bad. My problem is I really love the way pantene conditioner works but it REEKS - wish they would come up with a stench-free version, or at least something more tolerable. I haven't found much difference in shampoos so I go with cheap, but pantene really works.

4. Shampoos
On a webpage of people asking where they could get original Herbal Essence shampoo a woman said this Mexican shampoo is almost exactly like HE, and may be available at drug stores where Mexican products are sold-
http://www.mirtadeperales.us/cgi-local/webcat/products_page.cgi?action=view&item=4&reset=4181

Some people like the original Clairol HE Shampoo so much they order a (more expensive) retro formula of it sold by the Vermont Country Store-

LOL-it even has a Facebook page!

6. Thank you -- will look for the Mexican version here in Tucson, but...
.
.
.
.
.
...I remember trying a knock-off of the original and being
greatly disappointed -- and the label of the second link
sure looks like the knock-off (both very close to the original
label. The first comment on the Facebook page talks about the
disappointment that the scent was a faded version of the
original (and that's what I remember of the product that
I had found a LONG time ago.

9. Herbal Essence Shampoo, Correction- Mirta de Perales® -no, Vanart®- sí
Edited on Sat Nov-20-10 02:10 PM by marzipanni
I found out the Spanish-labeled Mirta de Perales® herbal essence shampoo is from Cuba, therefore probably sold only in eastern U.S..
but, I bought Vanart® herbal essence shampoo, a Mexican brand, at the Safeway this a.m.. (32 oz. /$2.79)
It smells just like the original Clairol kind, and has good reviews on the internet.

7. Vermont Country Store
sells an herbal shampoo that they claim is a direct copy of Herbal Essence. I plan on ordering some soon because I loved the way that stuff smelled and cleaned my hair. They also sell what they say is a direct copy of Faberge's Organics shampoo with wheat germ oil and honey. That smelled good too - I may try it as well.
