should human breast milk be sold over the counter?
not just for nursing, but as a beverage, coffee creamer, etc?

Just wondering. It's interesting how people react to a question like that. Many instinctively go "ewwww", and then promptly go drink milk from a frikkin' COW! :puke:

if not, why not?

3. Fuck no!
Besides, it addition to knowing where it comes from, it wouldn't taste good anyway, considering what we tend to eat compared to a cow's diet. I've also heard of the idea of breast milk cheese :puke:

25. Humans don't produce as much as cows
Actually human breast milk is sold, but obtained by the few milk banks around the country. Primarily, it's for extremely allergic infants who for whatever reason can't get it from the source or I've even heard it's been used for those with medical conditions.
Pumping milk for women takes a lot of time, patience, and effort and I suspect, if someone wanted some, they'd either have to find their own direct source or pay some big bucks.

Breast Milk Forbidden on Chinese Market

The possible sale of human breast milk has been forbidden by China's Ministry of Health, an official in central China's Hunan Province said Monday.

On Jan. 26, a restaurant in Changsha, capital of Hunan, put on its menu 12 dishes made from the breast milk of six women in the province's mountainous areas.

The incident aroused a heated dispute on the marketing of breast milk products across the country, forcing the restaurant to suspend production.

Huang Jinsong, an official with the Hunan provincial health department, said the Ministry of Health had made it clear that "breast milk cannot be taken as merchandise or traded for profits".

47. A documented breast milk taste-test
http://www.thesneeze.com/mt-archives/000134.html

Thinking about actually drinking breast milk has caused me to ponder the question: Is it not weirder to drink cow's milk which is truly intended for baby cows? The answer: Hell no! The only thing weirder than me drinking breast milk, is the fact that milk is coming out of my wife's chest in the first place. It sure as hell didn't do that when I met her. I'm telling you, the whole thing is lunacy. I love my wife, but does she really have to be such a mammal?

Okay, I have put this off long enough. The time has come. I'm off to The Booby Bar to see what they've got on tap...
